The "It" Bags of the Season
3.07.2018

cute woven bag
There's no denying that woven/straw/basket bags are the "it" trend of the season. I'm seeing them absolutely everywhere, and at all different price points! I have a feeling they're pretty polarizing, but I personally love them! In my home I love to decorate with different textures, and I love applying that philosophy to my outfits as well. Since these are the perfect accessory to transition into spring, I thought I would round up some of my favorites!

Sadly I can't include Zara stuff in the below widget, but I think they have the best collection! I legitimately opened 10 or 11 tabs and loved them all! If I had to narrow down, some of my favorites are here, here, here and here.

Zara bags aside, here are some others I'm loving (all under $100, and most are well under):

Is this a trend you plan on wearing? I already have two woven/straw bags 🙈 Mine pictured above is sold out, but I purchased it from the cutest boutique, Hello Luvvy! Oh, and my top can be found here.

April Wish List
4.04.2016

With the exception of a few chilly days, it's now fully spring here and I couldn't be happier about it! Trees are blooming everywhere you look, and the tulips lining our driveway are glorious again this year. I'm moving on from my winter black and gray, and embracing a color palette of blush pink, white, nude, cognac and various shades of denim.

-Over the next few months, I'll constantly be on the lookout for effortless tanks with unique details that can be worn now with jeans and a light jacket and later with distressed shorts and summery sandals. I love the embroidery on this one, and the flattering details of this one.

-Distressed denim is still perfect this time of year for a little toughness in contrast to feminine tops. I love this relaxed pair, and these medium wash skinny jeans.

-For accessories, I still favor neutrals but with stunning details that will make a simple summer outfit pop. Think chunky heels, lace-up sandals, uniquely shaped bags (loving this canteen-style), and fun but affordable extras like a turban headband, pink sunglasses, or ear crawlers.

-Off-the-shoulder dresses & tops are very much still 'in' this spring and summer! I love this blush dress, and this effortless patterned dress that will be on my blog later this week (and is already on my Instagram)!

Forever 21 Finds
3.16.2016

Forever 21 has lots of amazing spring and summer pieces at the moment, so I thought I'd round up some of my favorites! Their site (and stores) can be a lot to sift through, so sometimes it helps to have someone else sort through everything for you ;) Probably my favorite thing to buy from F21 is simple, breezy dresses. Fortunately for us all, midi and maxi dresses are still as big as ever, and they're super flattering. I love that you can throw one on, no matter how simple, and feel instantly put-together and styled! It's also worth keeping an eye on their swimsuits and coverups (love this one), because sometimes you can find a super chic suit that's an absolute steal. Happy spring shopping!

Spring Trend: Block Heel Sandals
3.10.2016

My favorite shoe trend so far this year has to be block heels. Not only are they typically more comfortable and easier to walk in than stilettos, but I also think they're just so chic and can even make your legs and ankles look skinnier ;) Below I've rounded up some of my favorite block heel sandals from around the web that will be the perfect to wear all spring and summer!

Left to right by row...
Top: 1, 2, 3 (go down 1/2 size)
Middle: 1, 2, 3
Bottom: 1, 2, 3

March Wish List
3.08.2016

Spring trends & wish list
Skirt | Heels | Phone Case here & here) | Skinny Scarf

Spring is kind of here (on some days) and I am just ecstatic about it! Fortunately, we had a more mild winter in the midwest this year, but it's still exciting to have warmer temps and to watch everything green up a bit.

I absolutely adore spring color palettes and light layers. It's probably my favorite seasonal transition.

-This year blush pink and rose quartz will be huge, and these shades look gorgeous with olive green, light or dark denim, and any nude/tan/brown tones. This skirt is on its way to me (I hope it's cute on!), and I also love this dress.

-Bomber jackets are becoming the new 'it girl' jacket (thanks to stylist Monica Rose!), and I think an olive green one will be so chic to layer over breezy tees, blouses and sundresses. I just got this one!

-A go-to stripe dress or tee is an essential for easy spring layers in my book and will absolutely never go out of style. Bonus - you can dress them up for date night with heeled sandals or dress them down for daytime with sneakers and a jacket. I love this dress for $13, as well as this one for $36.

-Nude and camel accessories are the easiest way to transition from winter to spring. I just got this foldover clutch in blush leather, and l-o-v-e this gorgeous cross-body bag.

Spring Transition Favorites
2.25.2016

Even though it's cold here at the moment, spring is definitely just around the corner (I have tulips starting to come up!) and I cannot wait! What I've found to be successful is shopping ahead of time for the approaching season. Not only do you get the first pick of everything, but you'll also be ready with cute new spring things as soon as warmer weather arrives. Earlier this week I ordered these boyfriend jeans, these heeled sandals (just $35!), this dress and this top. I also have this maxi dress, this shift dress ($13!) and this jacket (perfect for layering over a feminine white sundress or blouse) high up on my list!

All of the below are under $100, and most are under $50 or even $25!

May Wish List
5.12.2015

Tassel Earrings (come in lots of colors) | Clear Sunglasses | Coral Cuff

My shopping outlook this month and next is to stock up on pieces I'm missing for summer before it gets hot (and before my vacation)! I'm really really feeling neutral black, white, gray and tan vibes with pops of coral/red/pink. A few things to point out in particular...

-Breezy dresses to dress up or down. I already own the one above (worn in yesterday's post) + this dress, but am eying these dresses here, here, and here.

-Effortless skirts. I'm kind of in love with the cargo skirt above (but do I want it in the tan or olive??) + this gorgeous coral skirt that would be so versatile to style.

-Tees and tanks with interesting detail (think eyelet, lace, ruffles, etc.). Let's be honest...the t-shirt + shorts combo can get extremely boring on repeat all summer. I'm looking for tops with interesting details that can be worn for work or casually with shorts like this one.

-The perfect straw panama hat. I've been lusting after this J.Crew classic, but settled for this Target version for 1/4 of the price for the time being (looks significantly better/different in person, trust me).

-Simple and summery jewelry. I'm not one to buy jewelry often, but I do love to add a few fresh pieces to my collection each season. I just got these cream tassel hoops and they are perfection (and just $28).

-Summer beauty essentials. Next on my beauty wish list is a glowy, summery bronzer as well as a new skincare line to try. Do you have any suggestions?

-More shoes. Always. I actually got the black Nike Roshe Run tennies from my husband for my birthday and they're incredibly good (just order 1/2 size down). Next I'd love to add a little pop of color to my very neutral shoe collection.

-Further additions to my accessory collection. I should probably focus on actually owning an adequate amount of summery tops (because I currently do not), but accessories always seem to steal my attention. I'm kind of in love with these clear sunnies (one of my favorite trends this season) and this gray + gold crossbody bag

What's on your wish list this month?

Spring/Summer Dresses & Skirts
5.01.2015

So I'm on a huge skirt and dress kick this spring and summer. I think last year being pretty fresh out of college that I was so busy trying to build up my basics that I didn't get to buy very many "fun" pieces like sundresses and skirts. I've already bought a few dresses this spring and have my eye on a lot of cute skirts as well! Shorts are often challenging to find or style in a unique way, so sometimes skirts and dresses are simply easier and chicer (and can be dressed up or down)! Below I've gathered some of my favorite skirt and dress finds so far this year at a wide range of prices (simply click on an image to shop that piece)...

I feel like I am going absolutely shoe crazy this spring! There are so many trends and styles I love this year, so I have a lot of shoes on my wish list at the moment. The reason I put my spring/summer shoe guide together early in the season is because I waited way too long to buy sandals last year. I had so many expenses and so much on my plate with the wedding and buying a house, that I didn't start sandal and shoe shopping until June and July, and by then a lot of things I wanted were sold out and I didn't have much time left to wear them. So, my recommendation is to start buying your spring and summer shoes as soon as possible! Then you can make sure you get exactly what you want and get to wear them for months to come :)

Slide Sandals:
I'm obsessed with this minimalist trend and think they are so chic! J.Crew has a lot of gorgeous options, I just got this Steve Madden pair in the mail (love them), and Old Navy has some for just $12 right now! Also, if you want to brave the Birkenstock style, you can try this cheaper version from Target, or go with the real deal Birkenstocks (which I've heard are incredible).

Ankle Strap Sandals:
This is a style I searched and searched for last summer but they weren't very popular yet. Obviously, I'm now ecstatic that these have gotten big and that they're available at a lot of different price points. I'm definitely planning to buy this Steve Madden style in black and maybe coral too, and this J.Crew pair would be a great investment staple as well.

Strappy Sandals:
I've always loved strappy sandals and think they can be both edgy and feminine. These can vary a lot in style, so there's definitely something for everyone. This studded Rebecca Minkoff pair in blush is calling my name!

Heeled Sandals:
I love heeled sandals and they've jumped ahead of wedges for me and are often just as comfortable (especially with a thicker block heel). They're versatile because they're great for work in the summer but equally as great for dressing up more casual or flirty pieces for parties, vacations or date nights.

Espadrilles:
The espadrille trend is a brand new favorite of mine, but I think they are classic and absolutely darling! There are lots of designer versions available, but I love this Old Navy pair for just $23 and just discovered the affordable and adorable Soludos espadrilles. This style will look so cute with any kind of jeans in the spring and then with distressed boyfriend shorts, chino style shorts and sundresses/skirts all summer long!

What shoe trends are you loving this season, and which shoes in particular are you dying to get your hand on?? I just ordered a pair of classic white Converse sneakers, which I think will be so cute to mix into my wardrobe for a relaxed, comfortable look.

Thanks so much for reading!

Crop Top
4.28.2014

Top: Forever 21 (in-store | black crop top picks below) | Skirt: Forever 21 (in-store | black skater skirt picks below)
Heels: Steve Madden (similar here and here) | Bag: Phillip Lim for Target
Necklace: Forever 21

I actually wore this outfit for our engagement photos, and it was just the right amount of fun & daring I was looking for in my final look. My 3 other outfits were dresses, so this changed it up perfectly. Hopefully years from now I'll still love this outfit, but we'll see! ;)

I was so skeptical of the crop top trend at first, but now I'm fully a fan when paired with a high-waisted skirt or shorts! This was the first one I've bought, and I've since purchased two more, which I think will be so fun to wear on our honeymoon in NYC!

Spring Pastels
4.16.2014

Pink blouse (+ another gorgeous option here) | Lavender necklace

Spring colors are my absolute favorite! I love that pastels don't stray too far away from my favorite neutrals (and pair well with them too), but add some color and so much femininity. Since I won't be able to add many to my closet this spring, I've been doing lots of 'wish list' shopping with pieces I'd love to have (including all of the above).

Trend to Try: Skater
3.24.2014

One of my favorite trends for this spring & summer is the skater / fit & flare hemline! It became really popular last year and I'm glad it's stuck around. I personally think this hemline is so flattering, and that it's adorable too! I'm a big fan of anything that defines the waist and then flares out away from the hips/thighs.

Skaters skirts can easily be dressed up or down, and I'm excited to wear them this summer with another of my favorite trends - the crop top! Here are some of my favorite finds:

Skater dresses are also really great pieces to dress up or down because of their simple cut and typically solid colors or simply prints. A few favorites:

I've worn this trend many times (and I'm not stopping anytime soon), and here are a few of my favorite looks!

Is this a trend you'll be wearing this spring and summer?

Loving Lately | Flats
3.06.2014

First row L to R: Ankle Strap Flats | Printed Loafers

Say hello to my latest obsession - flats! To be honest, I haven't really ever liked flats up until about a year ago. I thought round-toe ballet flats were often frumpy, and that pointed toe flats would make my already long feet look like flippers!

I've found that pointed-toe flats, while they may make your feet look slightly longer, are extremely elongating and slimming! And I don't think there are many of us girls that don't want our legs to look long and lean, am I right? Sometimes they can be uncomfortable, but if you find a well-fitting pair with a bit of 'give,' they're not at all bad once you break them in slightly. Now onto rounded-toe ballet flats... I mentioned above that I used to find them frumpy. But, I think a lot of this is the way they used to be styled, and overall that shoes just weren't as cute when I was in middle school and high school! I've come to realize they're such a classic, elegant shoe and that they're so versatile. I just bought a pair of cognac ballet flats last week and I already know I'll wear them so much.

In addition to some of my current favorites above, here are a ton of other options! Price-wise I've picked options ranging from $22 to $100, and most of these come in a few different colors!
