Spring Trend: Block Heel Sandals
3.10.2016

My favorite shoe trend so far this year has to be block heels. Not only are they typically more comfortable and easier to walk in than stilettos, but I also think they're just so chic and can even make your legs and ankles look skinnier ;) Below I've rounded up some of my favorite block heel sandals from around the web that will be the perfect to wear all spring and summer!

Steve Madden via Nordstrom (sizes available here & here | come in 3 color combos) | Distressed Denim | old Loft Top

I've been on a serious shoe-buying kick lately, but I'm definitely a believer that the right shoes make an outfit. I used to spend all of my money on clothes, but now I budget in shoes because they play such a big part in mixing and matching + dressing outfits up or down. These are the shoes I've purchased so far this year and have on constant rotation!

I feel like I am going absolutely shoe crazy this spring! There are so many trends and styles I love this year, so I have a lot of shoes on my wish list at the moment. The reason I put my spring/summer shoe guide together early in the season is because I waited way too long to buy sandals last year. I had so many expenses and so much on my plate with the wedding and buying a house, that I didn't start sandal and shoe shopping until June and July, and by then a lot of things I wanted were sold out and I didn't have much time left to wear them. So, my recommendation is to start buying your spring and summer shoes as soon as possible! Then you can make sure you get exactly what you want and get to wear them for months to come :)

Slide Sandals:
I'm obsessed with this minimalist trend and think they are so chic! J.Crew has a lot of gorgeous options, I just got this Steve Madden pair in the mail (love them), and Old Navy has some for just $12 right now! Also, if you want to brave the Birkenstock style, you can try this cheaper version from Target, or go with the real deal Birkenstocks (which I've heard are incredible).

Ankle Strap Sandals:
This is a style I searched and searched for last summer but they weren't very popular yet. Obviously, I'm now ecstatic that these have gotten big and that they're available at a lot of different price points. I'm definitely planning to buy this Steve Madden style in black and maybe coral too, and this J.Crew pair would be a great investment staple as well.

Strappy Sandals:
I've always loved strappy sandals and think they can be both edgy and feminine. These can vary a lot in style, so there's definitely something for everyone. This studded Rebecca Minkoff pair in blush is calling my name!

Heeled Sandals:
I love heeled sandals and they've jumped ahead of wedges for me and are often just as comfortable (especially with a thicker block heel). They're versatile because they're great for work in the summer but equally as great for dressing up more casual or flirty pieces for parties, vacations or date nights.

Espadrilles:
The espadrille trend is a brand new favorite of mine, but I think they are classic and absolutely darling! There are lots of designer versions available, but I love this Old Navy pair for just $23 and just discovered the affordable and adorable Soludos espadrilles. This style will look so cute with any kind of jeans in the spring and then with distressed boyfriend shorts, chino style shorts and sundresses/skirts all summer long!

What shoe trends are you loving this season, and which shoes in particular are you dying to get your hand on?? I just ordered a pair of classic white Converse sneakers, which I think will be so cute to mix into my wardrobe for a relaxed, comfortable look.

Thanks so much for reading!

Summer Shoes
6.25.2014

Hello friends! I am [hopefully] back to blogging if life settles down a bit. We closed on our house last Friday, and have been working non-stop on it after work every day! There aren't any huge remodeling needs, but new paint, carpet and floors were a must. We are also re-framing the master bath, and a kitchen makeover will slowly be taking place over the next year.

That being said, painting and ripping up old light blue, patterned carpet is about as un-glamorous as you can get. Outfit pictures have definitely not been in the equation these past several days, but I'll be working on some posts this week :) For now, I'm sharing some of my favorite summer shoe finds! It seems like every few years I reach a point where I need several new pairs of shoes at once, and this is one of those years! With my honeymoon to NYC coming up in just over a month, I'm really on the lookout for chic sandals that will be comfortable for walking. I've been scouring my favorite online shops for summer shoe trends, and many of my favorites are below!

First row L to R: Ankle Strap Flats | Printed Loafers

Say hello to my latest obsession - flats! To be honest, I haven't really ever liked flats up until about a year ago. I thought round-toe ballet flats were often frumpy, and that pointed toe flats would make my already long feet look like flippers!

I've found that pointed-toe flats, while they may make your feet look slightly longer, are extremely elongating and slimming! And I don't think there are many of us girls that don't want our legs to look long and lean, am I right? Sometimes they can be uncomfortable, but if you find a well-fitting pair with a bit of 'give,' they're not at all bad once you break them in slightly. Now onto rounded-toe ballet flats... I mentioned above that I used to find them frumpy. But, I think a lot of this is the way they used to be styled, and overall that shoes just weren't as cute when I was in middle school and high school! I've come to realize they're such a classic, elegant shoe and that they're so versatile. I just bought a pair of cognac ballet flats last week and I already know I'll wear them so much.

In addition to some of my current favorites above, here are a ton of other options! Price-wise I've picked options ranging from $22 to $100, and most of these come in a few different colors!
