What We've Been Up To, and Where We're Headed Today

I hope you guys had an amazing Christmas and Christmas Eve! We've had a busy last few days, and are now off on a quick trip to Houston! On Friday we had our annual Christmas celebration with Trey's mom, brothers, and their families and we always love that quality time hanging out with our nieces and nephew. On Saturday, Trey and I squeezed in an overnight trip to St. Louis just to have some quality time together, eat some yummy food, and go to a Mizzou basketball game. Once in awhile I talk Trey into snapping some blog pics for me (especially if we're visiting a city), and this post was one of those times 😜 On Christmas Eve we drove home through some snow and had Trey's family's Christmas, and then we spent Christmas Day with my family. It was a great weekend!

Today we left at 5am to drive down to Houston! Mizzou is playing in the Texas Bowl tomorrow and we decided to make it a family trip with my parents and sister! I've never been to Houston before, so definitely leave a comment or DM me on Instagram if you have recommendations of places to eat or things to do! We'll be coming back Thursday, so it's a super quick trip, but I'm excited to explore a new city.

This is a complete sidebar, but I finally got a Natori bra, and not only are they pretty, but they're also really comfortable for an underwire bra. I rarely wear a bra with an underwire (because why would I go through that discomfort when I have tiny boobs??), but I made an exception for this one (I got the "feathers plunge contour bra").

Also, a great sale kicks off today where you can get an extra 25% off sale items at Shopbop! Some brands I'll be checking out are Calvin Klein underwear, BB Dakota, and Free People because they all have some great sale items.

Every time I see something in the dusty rose/mauve family I want it to be mine immediately. I think it's going to be a huge color trend this spring and summer, which is great because it's a color that looks good on everyone! I also like that it's pink without being too pink. We all know I'm not the most colorful when it comes to my clothes, but I feel like this color family isn't too out there for me.

This tee is by Topshop and you can't really see in the photos, but all of the edges are unfinished or distressed. I love little details like that, and think this tee will be the perfect cut to wear with some cutoff denim shorts in the summer!

After looking for about a year and a half, I finally found the perfect faux leather jacket in my price range! For being on sale for only $60, it looks and feels very high end. I tried a small and extra-small and liked how the XS was a little slimmer in the waist.

I'm wearing a couple of other new pieces in this post too. My Quay "Playa" aviators are making their first appearance (I'm obsessed), as well as this long-sleeve tee from Express. I love that the tee is a basic with a twist because it has the choker detail. It's cute enough to stand on it's own, but also great for layering!

Draped blouse with cutoffs and platform sandals
twist-front top
Lush top from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
Rust red top
Studded canteed-style bag with tassle
Rust redLevi's cutoffs
twist-front blouse with casual cutoffs
Top: Nordstrom (still available in all sizes + comes in olive) | Shorts: Levi's
Shoes: Target | Bag: Forever 21 (on sale for $20!)
Necklace: Kendra Scott | Bracelet: MantraBand

You may have seen on Snapchat, but I got this top in the mail on Tuesday from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and had to try it on right away. I tried it on with high-waisted jeans and over-the-knee boots (Steve Madden that I also got from the sale!) and it was such a cute outfit that you'll definitely be seeing on here sometime this fall! But, since it's been restocked in all sizes + in olive green, I also wanted to style it for now...meaning I wanted it to be wearable for the 100+ heat index weather we have right now. Even though I would have preferred to wear this with a true high-rise short, I still liked how this look came together. The drapey twist detail of the top is so much more interesting than your typical short sleeve top, and the platforms and bag added a bit of edge as well.

I also want to share the ah-mazing Popsugar Must Have box that I got in the mail this week! Popsugar was so kind to send me their limited edition box curated with the CFDA, and there were so many luxurious surprises inside. I seriously couldn't believe everything I was unwrapping and I was gushing to Trey the entire time as he halfway listened to me ;)

Popsugar Must Have box

3.1 Phillip Lim 10 year anniversary leather pouch

Needless to say, I'm hooked! If you want to try out the CFDA limited edition Must Have box, you can get $20 off through tomorrow (Friday, 8/5) at this link with the code SSCFDA!

Cozy for the Snow
1.14.2016

Sweater: Nordstrom (40% off) | Leggings: Zella (the best!)
Boots: Hunter | Mittens: Anthropologie (10 color options + extra 40% off sale price w/ code XTRA40)
Beanie: F21 (similar) | Socks: H&M

Over the weekend we had the most beautiful snowfall (more on that in this post), so we got to pull out all of our favorite warm clothes and accessories. I just got this sweater from Nordstrom for 40% off and it's amazing! It's soft and I love that it's long and slimming (perfect to wear with leggings!). I also got these mittens because I didn't have any cute gloves, and I'm a bit obsessed. They are fleece-lined so they're so comfy-cozy, plus the colors are adorable! They come in 9 other colors as well and you can get an extra 40% off the sale price with the code XTRA40...

Last but not least, I can't even tell you how glad I am that I finally bought Hunter boots. I put off purchasing them for years because they're pretty pricey, but I now wear mine all the time. It's reassuring to know that I can still look cute without ruining my other shoes. They're not necessarily made for snow since they're not lined, but I just layered a couple of pairs of thick, tall socks and was fine. If you're going to be in extreme cold or out in the snow for hours on end then you'll want some snow boots, but for where we live and our lifestyle I don't really run into those situations, so the Hunters work great!

I hope you're having a great week! I've been working some long hours this week, so I'm really looking forward to the 3-day weekend! xo

The Perfect Tunic
9.08.2015

Top: Lush via Nordstrom (one of my favorite tops! wearing size XS) | Shorts: Rag & Bone
Bag: Zara | Sandals: old Target | Sunnies: Ray-ban (color is gold/brown)
Necklace: Kendra Scott and Bracelet: Margaret Elizabeth both c/o Rocksbox (use code 'lovelenorexoxo' for a free month!)

How was your holiday weekend?? I took the day off from blogging yesterday since our weekend was so busy and I needed an actual day off. Saturday/Sunday we camped at the lake with all of Trey's brothers and their families, and it was a blast! I love how close Trey and all of his brothers are, despite their wide age range. It was extra special too because his little brother proposed to his long-time girlfriend!

Now to the outfit... I think by this point virtually every blogger has this tunic, but I ordered it on the first day of the public Nordstrom anniversary sale (as well as the white) and was obsessed as soon as I tried it on. It's so flattering! It's the perfect transition top since it's lightweight, but will look amazing with jeans and ankle boots all fall and winter too. It's been super hot again here in Missouri (as in I was sweating like crazy shooting this look...) so I'm hoping we get some fall weather soon!

Holy Grail Makeup Products
8.07.2015

I like to do beauty posts every so often because I love learning about makeup and trying new products! Today though, I thought I would share my all-time favorite makeup products! These are all products that are the best I've ever tried in their respective categories, and ones that I will keep coming back to for a long time. I'm always a bit conflicted because I LOVE trying out new products, but once you find something great you don't want to try something else and not like it as much. These are all amazing though, and I can't recommend them enough! Read on for details/reviews... :)

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Liquid Makeup (in Fresco)
This stuff. I cannot rave enough. I've found a lot of foundations that look great when I put them on, but by lunch time of my desk job have melted off of my face - which I find utterly ridiculous. This stuff lasts ALL day! Usually when I'm washing my face before bed at night my makeup still looks good, and that's never ever happened to me. I owe it all to Amber of Barefoot Blonde for recommending this magic stuff, and I also bought this pump for it thanks to Emily of The Sweetest Thing's suggestion (so I don't have to pour it and waste product). It's the priciest foundation I've ever purchased, but you won't have to reapply it during the day, and I only use about a pump and a half each day, so it's lasting me quite awhile. It is a full coverage foundation, so not all of you may need that. They have a Double Wear Light foundation that is also supposed to be good. I personally need a fuller coverage foundation due to the skin issues I'm still battling in my mid twenties, but this one has never looked too thick or dry...it's full coverage with a natural look. I apply it in a pressing/blotting motion (not swirling) with this brush, and it makes makeup last longer!

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (in Medium Plus)
I've tried a lot of powders and this one has a beautiful finish. It perfectly seals and blends in my foundation + concealers without looking cakey. I love that it cuts down on any shine I have without taking away my glow. Most powders end up making me too matte, and I like my skin to still shine through my makeup. I apply it in a pressing/blotting motion with this brush!

NARS Ita Kabuki Brush (for contouring)
This little guy is definitely a splurge, but I love love love it. As someone fairly new to contouring, it makes it incredibly easy. I'm impressed with the quality, and I like that it's thin enough to easily contour the sides of my nose and along my forehead. It really gives such nice control when you're contouring, but also doesn't create too harsh of a line! I plan on taking really good care of it so that it will last me a long time and pay itself off :)

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish (in Global Glow)
MAC has a couple of mineralize skinfinish lines...this line is a bronzer/highlighter line and the 'Natural' line is more like finishing powders (like the one I discussed above). This little bronzer is so beautiful on!! I use a different bronzer for contouring (it's matte with cooler tones), but I use this one to blend everything in and add a very natural, warm glow to my face. It even makes a really pretty eyeshadow. It's such a beautiful product that I can't recommend it enough!

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer
I've talked about this before, but I have very dark hereditary dark circles that I've had my whole life. If I'm not wearing makeup it's almost a guarantee that someone will ask me if I'm sick. So, I've tried many undereye concealers over the years, and so far this is my favorite! It's very pigmented and brightening, so you barely have to use any. I legitimately use two tiny tiny drops and it's plenty, which means that this little tube is lasting me such a long time. I think it will easily last me a year, which makes it a pretty affordable product.

MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter (in Radiant Rose)
This product is basically a liquid highlighter, and it's so illuminizing! When the girl at MAC put it under my eyes and down the bridge of my nose I had to buy it immediately - it was that good. Because it's liquid, it's very blendable. And I love that it reflects light away from my dark circles. Mary Kay and Bare Minerals also make similar products that are really good too!

Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Whiz
Sadly, I didn't start filling in my brows until last summer (it really is a fairly recent trend though, right?), and I had no idea what I was missing all these years! I have naturally thick brows, but now I can fill in sparse spots and define my brow shape. This brow pencil is hands down the best I've ever tried, and they offer so many color options! It also comes with a brush on the end so I first brush all of my brow hairs into an orderly direction, then apply the pencil in short, light strokes going in the direction of the hairs, and then blend it all together softly with the brush. It's incredibly easy to use, and I can go bold or natural. I use the color 'medium brown' but may try the 'taupe' soon as I continue to go blonder.

Let me know if you have any questions about application, other products, etc.! I LOVE talking about makeup, so I'm always up to chat about it :) Also, if you have a favorite contour bronzer, let me know! I like mine, but want to try some others.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

xo,
Jacy

PS - Now that I know what color I am in these products, I love ordering replacements online from Nordstom! They have free shipping and returns on everything, so I can order a new powder or foundation (or whatever else) online without driving an hour to my nearest Sephora. (No this is not sponsored, I just love ordering from Nordstrom)!

July Wish List
7.22.2015

Clothes: Dress, Romper, Shorts
Accessories: Purse, Sunglasses, Sandals
Jewelry: Earrings, Gold Cuff, Braided Bangle
Beauty: Perfume, Lipstick
Jane Austen Books

It's now so late in July that it probably doesn't even make sense to be sharing my July Wish List, but I love putting these together and sharing my best finds of late. Below are some highlights of what I've been shopping & browsing this month...

Clothes
Current obsessions = minimal midi dresses, rompers, olive green, and super distressed shorts. That adorable midi dress above is on sale for 7 DOLLARS. Seriously. I'm ordering it in both black and gray. I also currently own a single pair of denim shorts. After building up a good collection finally, it was rather frustrating to lose those along with our other stuff. I'm not sure whether to splurge on a pair of Rag & Bone boyfriend shorts or to stick with cutoffs (love these).

Accessories
I've been looking at cross-body bags all month since mine were stolen and I'm ready for a new investment bag. I'm debating between another Rebecca Minkoff bag or a minimal-chic Vince bag like the one above. Also...seriously obsessed with lace-up sandals like this pair from Nordstrom.

Jewelry/Beauty/Other
Jewelry-wise I've been gravitating toward simple gold bracelets and earthy-influenced statement earrings. That pairing seems to work with everything I own! I also picked up a couple of beachy fragrances from Anthropologie when we were in California that I can't stop wearing, and am dying to own these beautiful Jane Austen books from there as well.

Have you made any amazing purchases this month? I ordered a couple of these tunics from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and they're perfect, as are these Zella leggings!

Jacy

More of my favorite finds this month...

Bohemian Print
6.24.2015

Dress: c/o Pleione at Nordstrom (comes in 4 colors! runs big-wearing size XS)
Sandals: DV by Dolce Vita (4 colors; go up 1/2 size) | Clutch: Francescas (similar here, here, here)
Earrings: Kendra Scott | Bracelet: Gorjana via Rocksbox (use code 'lovelenorexoxo' for a free month; similar bracelet)

I'm not a bright color person, but the colors and print of this dress are just so pretty (and it comes in 4 options)! I love that it can be worn as a pool/beach coverup, to work (I did as styled above), or even dressed up for a wedding or nice dinner. It's truly so versatile, so you get a lot of bang for your buck. I'm thinking this may be a good one to pack for our vacation!
