tuesday twist: 4 ways to wear a fancy skirt {part 4}.
7.31.2012

Skirt: Target (old). Tank top: PacSun. Vest: Forever 21 (old). Booties: Aldo (similar pair here). Bracelet: Vintage.  Nail polish: "Minted" by Revlon.

For my final Tuesday Twist look this month, I wanted to do something totally different with this skirt! I hardly ever wear this vest because I have never thought of many ways to style it, but I like the contrast between a tougher, wool piece and a light airy piece. On another note, these hidden wedge booties from Aldo are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned! You'll probably see me wearing them a lot in the coming fall and winter months :)

I love the spot where Jordyn snapped these photos because the colors look so neat with this outfit. Check out all of the gorgeous new photos she's done lately (including some amazing dance photography) on her Facebook page!

This girl has got some serious style! Nicole Richie has definitely come a long way from when she first acquired her stardom and has blossomed into such a gorgeous, fashionable momma.

The reason Nicole Richie is a style inspiration for me is her incredible talent of making Bohemian style look chic and pulled together. I mean, who else can honestly wear baggy jeans and a t-shirt like that? I think a big factor that pulls her looks together so well is her ability to accessorize. It's really incredible how much of a difference the addition of a great bag, scarf, jewelry or sunglasses can make when styling even the most casual of outfits. She also picks really fantastic pieces with lots of details, embellishments and color.

Which of these looks is your favorite?

tuesday twist: 4 ways to wear a fancy skirt {part 3}.
7.24.2012

Skirt: Target (old). Strapless cami: PacSun. Beaded clutch and sparkly ring: vintage. Studded heels: Aldo (I like these and these). Watch: Fossil. Pearl wrap bracelet: gifted. Nails: "Minted" by Revlon.

I know I've shown a couple of more casual ways that I wear this skirt, so this week for Tuesday Twist I wanted to do something a little fancier! Black is always a go-to when I want to dress up, and I liked how much the pink tulle stood out against a simple top.

I've realized that all of my favorite pieces of jewelry have been gifts or passed down to me at some point. The freshwater pearl wrap bracelet I'm wearing here was a gift to me on my 8th birthday from my late grandmother. I love how timeless pearls are and that I adore this bracelet even more now than I did when she gave it to me! Similarly, the silver spoon ring I always have on belonged to my mom when she was younger, and I've worn it nearly every day since she passed it down to me. I guess I just love looking down and thinking of special times and people in my life...
What's your favorite piece of jewelry that's been given to you from someone special?

Romper: Forever 21 (from last year). Wedges: Target (here + I also love these and these). Purse & sunglasses: Aldo (from last year). Turquoise bracelet: gifted. Turquoise ring: Forever 21. Watch: Fossil.

Well this has been quite the week! My cousin, her son, and husband are moving from California to North Carolina and came through my hometown, so I drove home from school to visit them for a couple of days! AND, my sister has a huge swim meet at my school this whole week, so I've been able to see her swim, which I absolutely love to do! She had a day off from her meet today so we got to spend the day together, which I always treasure so much. It's amazing how much more you value time with your family once you've been away from them...

On another note, I love this little denim romper/jumpsuit for summer because of the cute striped denim fabric and the fun cutout in the back! I always love an opportunity to keep as cool as possible in the Missouri heat & humidity while still being at least slightly stylish! I always like to add in colorful accessories to keep this outfit upbeat and summery as well :)

Floral tie-top: Kirra from PacSun (from last Spring). Denim mini: Forever 21 (old). Coral sneakers: Urban Outfitters. Watch: Fossil. Suede braided bracelets & green ring: H&M. Brown leather bracelet: American Eagle (old).

My sister snapped these photos when we went downtown a few weeks ago for an evening walk, which is one of my favorite things to do in the summertime. This outfit was pretty much thrown together at the last minute, but sometimes those easy summery outfits are simply the best!

Tuesday Twist (featuring my light pink tulle skirt) will resume next week!

tuesday twist: 4 ways to wear a fancy skirt {part 2}.
7.10.2012

T-shirt and Skirt: Target (old). Over-the-knee boots: Aldo (from last year). Watch: Fossil (here).  Necklace and bangles: my sister's!

This week for Tuesday Twist I've unconventionally paired a super casual t-shirt with my dressy tulle skirt! This combination is so unexpected, but I've fallen in love with doing this and wear this type of outfit a lot. It's the perfect way to dress down a skirt for everyday wear. I'm not sure how I thought to pair these boots with this outfit either, but I like the unique effect! Quite the contrast from last week, right??

I'm so excited to announce that I'm being featured in this week's Fashion Blog Battle on Posh24.com! I would love it if you would take a look at the contest and perhaps send a vote my way! :) There are some other fantastic bloggers I'm going up against! Check it out here{the battle goes until Friday}

Happy Tuesday!

little black dress.
7.07.2012

Dress: Madonna Dress - Black from Sabo Skirt. Wedges: Mossimo from Target. Necklace: Aldo Shoes from last year (lots of other cute ones here). Earrings: Target. Gold seashell bracelet: vintage. Gold sparkly ring: a birthday gift. Nails: "Splash of Grenadine" by Essie (which I got from Apothica.com!)

Last weekend my boyfriend Trey and I celebrated our one-year anniversary and this is the outfit I wore for the date we went on! Being a college student in Missouri, I don't exactly have a ton of occasions to dress up for all the time, so I love getting a chance to dress up! And you can't go wrong with a little black dress, right?

I've been wanting to purchase something from the Australian clothing company Sabo Skirt for quite awhile now because their stuff is just adorable! I first found out about them through their blog, which is both amazing and inspiring (the girls who own the company and their model are all Gorgeous and have fantastic style). They have SO many gorgeous things on their shop right now and I'm especially loving this dress and this skirt

Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

tuesday twist: 4 ways to wear a fancy skirt {part 1}.
7.03.2012

Tulle skirt: Target (old). Top: Blue Rain from Francesca's (borrowed from my sister). Cross-body clutch and sandals: Aldo Shoes last summer (love this pair of sandals on sale here!). Rose ring: Forever 21. Braided suede bracelets: H&M. Earrings: a gift from my mom :)

For this month's Tuesday Twist I chose this pale pink tulle skirt. When I scored this skirt from the sale rack at Target a few years ago (I couldn't turn down something ballet-inspired after all of my dancing years!) I didn't expect it to be a versatile piece of clothing and for awhile I simply styled it with a nice black tank top and sandals or occasionally heels.

However, with a little creativity (and boredom perhaps) I've figured out many different ways to style this skirt, and hopefully the four ways I'm demonstrating this month will give you some ideas to use with your own wardrobe! This is a summery way to style this skirt with the white and pastel shades, an airy embellished tank, and a casual bag and sandals

Happy 4th of July!
