Why I'm Going the Natural Route
5.02.2018

Show Me Your Mumu floral romper | Love, Lenore

As some of you may know, I've been dealing with some hormone and women's health issues, and while I'm not going to dive into detail, I will share that I plan to get some tests done starting next week so I know exactly what I'm dealing with! The biggest way these issues are manifesting at this time is with hormonal, cystic acne. I know there are so much worse issues to deal with, but it's not been easy to suddenly have the worst skin of your life as you approach your late twenties! Despite eating the cleanest I've ever eaten, working out regularly, and taking good care of my skin [always!], my skin is clamoring to tell me that something is wrong.

I've been reading the book Womancode by Alisa Vitti, and let me just tell you that it's completely changing the way I think about my health as a female! She not only educates you about how your endocrine system and hormones work (what most doctors don't have time to do), but she also gives you tools to heal them naturally. It's been incredibly eye-opening so far! If you've ever encountered a female issue of any type (hormones, fertility, thyroid, etc.) then I can't recommend this book enough! I've told so many people about it already.

Anyways, I'm making a lot of changes in my life right now (diet, skincare, home products, stress relief and more) and I will document many of those topics as I get a handle on everything and start to see positive changes. But to kick things off, I thought I would share why I'm going the natural route as much as possible...

I want a real fix, not a quick fix.
I'm not going to lie, it's REALLY tempting to go on medication to relieve my acne. So so tempting. However, I know that wouldn't actually be fixing what's going on inside. If I'm having multiple symptoms of hormone imbalance now (even while on the pill), I know that those issues could affect my fertility down the road. We do not want to try for a baby yet, however, I would rather get everything in order now rather than waiting a few years when we're ready to start a family.

So, I'm choosing to go the natural route so that I have real healing, not the further masking of symptoms. I'm confident that I can get my body back on track through nutrition and other lifestyle changes, and though they'll take longer than a medication, I will have the peace and empowerment that I've healed my body naturally and for the long term.

I've been learning about the endocrine system and hormones.
And knowledge is power! I love learning how the body works. The more I learn, the more I want to learn. It's been fascinating to see how many things are linked to hormones! They really do power the body in many, many ways. I've learned that the vast majority of endocrine and hormonal issues can be healed and/or alleviated through your diet. There's definitely sacrifice, but I feel that my health is invaluable!

Now that I'm learning all of the natural ways to get your body realigned, I can't not try them and dive right in. Every chemical we put on our skin or in our home is an "endocrine disrupter." Meaning a lot of the skincare I've been putting on my face since age 13 to treat my acne is actually being absorbed into my body and further disrupting my hormones. Crazy, right? So, it's time to do something different!

Notes: I am not a medical professional and it's critical to do your own research! Also, I fully respect modern medicine and 100% believe in it's power and overall awesomeness. I also respect you if you've chosen to go a different route with your hormonal care or skin issues! However, I grew up in a family where nutrition and naturopath/functional medicine were often our first route in prevention and care. Now as I've really grown into myself as an adult this has become important to me too.

I appreciate you reading this post and coming on this journey with me! I'm excited for my wellness journey and to document what I learn right here on this blog! Fashion is still so important to me and I love it so much, but I want to look and feel my best when I'm sharing it with you. You guys have also asked for more wellness content (which has become a huge passion of mine), so I promise it's coming!

If I can recommend anything at this point, it's to buy yourself a copy of Womancode! xx

Lulus off-the-shoulder ruffle romper // 4th of July outfit idea

I always feel so incredibly grateful when brands and retailers I love want to partner up or send things my way. It's a blessing when your hard work is noticed!

But anyways... I got the most amazing package from Lulus last week, which included this adorable off-the-shoulder romper! I already know that this will be one of my go-to's this summer because it's lightweight, effortless, and so cute! I think it would be a great option for the 4th of July too...

I have to admit that I'm not someone who gets overly excited or festive for the 4th. I embarrassingly can't even remember what we did last year 🙈 But this year, some of Trey's cousins from Florida will be in town and we're so excited to hangout with them (and their cute lil babies)!

Read on for some cute pieces I found for the 4th!

Hi!!! I'm so happy to be back to blogging after an unplanned week off. Last weekend the weather was crappy so I couldn't shoot, and then on Sunday I got hit with the flu and it took me out for dayyss. So, after what felt like weeks of not blogging or posting on Instagram, I'm so happy to be back! As much as that sucked, maybe a break was what I needed because now I'm feeling excited about blogging again! I also love that a new season has arrived (happy first day of spring!). I'm always inspired by new seasons, and have so many cute new things I can't wait to show you!

One of them is this adorable romper from Maude Boutique! I love a romper that you can dress up or down, and this is definitely one of those. I will say that it's a little hard to pee while wearing this (due to the buttons down the back 😂), but I definitely made it work because it really is so cute. Be sure to check out Maude's new arrivals for spring because there are so many cute pieces, and you can get 15% off your order with code LOVELENORE15!

Off-the-Shoulder Romper

Romper: BB Dakota (all sizes here, on sale here) | Heels: Steve Madden
Bag: Similar Rebecca Minkoff | Scarf: Zara (similar)

I blogged this romper back in April, but at the time it wasn't online anywhere (I purchased at a boutique). So when I saw it was back online I had to restyle it for you guys! This is a piece I've worn so much over the spring and summer and I love that it can truly be dressed up or down. The ivory lace will be easy to carry over into fall too. How cute would this be with a pair of peep-toe booties (which I don't have, but think I need ;)??

I hope you all had a great weekend! We got to spend most of ours at home together, which I needed in a bad way. I'm definitely feeling rejuvenated! We also watch a lot of Olympics! I grew up in an Olympics-crazed family, so I'm so glad that Trey loves them too :)

How is it already Monday?? In case you missed it on my Snapchat (jacylenore) and Instagram, Trey and I are in Nashville for a mini vacation and are absolutely loving it here! Today is our last full day here, so I'll be soaking it up as much as possible. This morning we're headed out to shoot a couple of outfits, so you'll be seeing those posts sometime this week, as well as a travel diary post :)

As for this romper... I think it's sooo comfy and cute. It's one of those rompers where you truly feel like you're wearing PJs, and couldn't be more perfect for a vacation. It's my friend Brianna's, and she was so sweet to let me borrow it and style it.

As I'm sure you've all heard, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is in full swing. It opens up to non-cardholders on Friday, so I'm excited to take advantage of the great prices and to purchase a few things then. This is my very favorite sale because you can buy fall items at a marked down price and then already be ready for the upcoming season. There are truly so many cute pieces this year! I thought I would share a few below if you're like me and like to make a game plan of what you're purchasing ahead of time :) I will definitely be purchasing these booties, but so badly want these too.

Stripe Swimsuit Coverup

Strappy black bikini
Romper/Coverup: c/o Maude (go up a size! runs short/small) | Bikini top: Urban Outfitters
Hat: Sole Society (just got this one & love!) | Sunnies: Karen Walker 'Super Duper'
Tote: H&M

This romper is a little bit tiny for me to wear out and about as a regular outfit, but it makes for the perfect swim coverup! I love the casual stripes, and how the straps tie in the front. I've had trouble finding a coverup that worked with my high-neck bikini top, but I think these look so cute together, and I like how the low back of the romper shows off the strappy details.

I hope you're having a great week so far! I have a couple of crazy busy days today and tomorrow with work, blog posts/projects, and vacation prep before we leave for our last-minute getaway on Friday (I'll reveal where-to then)! I'm definitely not counting down the hours or anything.......

PS - thank you to my friend Brianna for the photos & use of her family's pool! It was fun to shoot something unique!

If I owned 20+ rompers it would probably be okay with me. They're perfect for hot days, and I love that they make a statement without taking a ton of time or effort to style (#separatesarehard). I picked up this romper over the weekend because I knew it would be one I would actually wear over and over again. And you can wear a normal bra with it! I love strappy details, low backs, lightweight tops, etc., but do you guys get so sick of having to constantly fuss over what bra to wear in the summertime?! I've worn a sticky bra so many times in the last couple of weeks that I never want to wear one again. There is nothing quite as cute as sweating so much that your sticky bra literally falls off. Fun times.

Rant over because these desert vibes are givin' me liiiifffee right now. I think these are my theme colors right now (if that's a thing??)!

Off-the-Shoulder Romper
5.02.2016

Romper: c/o Tobi (currently 50% w/ code ROLLER50! | also comes in blush) | Belt: ASOS
Shoes: Forever 21 (similar here, here, here & here) | Bag: Forever 21
Necklace: Kendra Scott | Lips: MAC 'soar'

I can't get enough of off-the-shoulder stuff these days (more in these posts here & here) and this black, bell sleeve romper caught my attention immediately. It's so comfy and I love that it has a little bit of edge. I also loved that I could style my new double buckle belt with it! As much as I want a B-Low the Belt bri bri belt (made popular by Monica Rose/Kendall Jenner), I found lots of really similar affordable options at ASOS so I figured I should save my money for now!

Tobi, where this romper is from, currently has a 50% off site-wide sale going on through tomorrow (May 3) when you use the code ROLLER50! They have tons of cute rompers (mine is just $27 with the sale), and a lot of unique maxi dresses
