100th post!
2.03.2013

Top: Forever 21 (similar) | Skirt: Forever 21 (old)
Heels: Aldo (similar) | Bracelet: American Eagle
Earrings: Forever 21 (old) | Nails: Essie 'Sole Mate'

I've finally reached my 100th post! While I'm not actually having a party about it, I did want to post this little party look I put together. I'm sure you recognize this burgundy top from when I featured it back in November, but I love it so much that I just had to style it one more time before spring color palettes completely take over.

I just wanted to take a little time today to reflect on the many great things I've experienced since starting my blog...

1.
I've found so much inspiration from constantly finding new fantastic bloggers (like yourselves), and it's inspired me to continually evolve my own style. Blogging has also pushed me to be more creative with how I style pieces in my closet... Reading so many blogs (especially some of the bigger ones) can cause you to fall into the trap of constantly wanting more...and while having a fairly extensive closet and adding in trendy items is somewhat important, blogging has opened my eyes to being thankful for what I have while also creatively remixing pieces I already own!

2.
I've really enjoyed getting to 'meet' so many bloggers from not only the US, but all over the world. The blogging community is truly fantastic and I love being a part of it! I've made some fantastic blogger buddies and it's so so fun to watch your blogs grow!

Fun news:
In the next couple of months I'll be working on a blog makeover {design + name...yes name!} and I can't wait for the finished product! In the meantime, I plan to post a little more often starting this month, and I'm hoping that once I graduate from college in May that I'll be able to dedicate even more time to the blog and to all of you!

leather & a little sparkle.
1.25.2013

Top: c/o Ali & Kris | Skirt: Forever 21 (similar)
Clutch: Forever 21 (love this one) | Heels: Aldo (love these)
Nails: Essie 'Sole Mate' | Lipstick: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in 'Berry Smoothie'

My boyfriend, Trey, got me this faux-leather mini as one of my Christmas gifts (what a keeper, right?) because I've been loving the leather trend this winter. I thought my sheer glitter star blouse c/o Ali & Kris was the perfect compliment to my skirt because it's subtly glam, and an all-black outfit was the perfect canvas for trying out some lipstick! I absolutely love that lipstick is becoming the 'it' beauty trend right now. It's just so classic and glamorous...

With that being said, what are some of your favorite lipstick brands & colors?? Preferably on the affordable, drug store end of the spectrum :)

pink leopard.
12.22.2012

Leopard top: Forever 21 (old, but love this one) | Skirt: Forever 21 (old - similar here)
Heels: Aldo (love these) | Beaded clutch: vintage | Watch: Fossil (similar)

This is an outfit that my friend Jo of Jo Johnson Photography shot in the summer, but I never got around to posting it! I've loved this skirt for years and keep finding new ways to wear it because of its ladylike silhouette and pretty brocade pattern. I absolutely adore this vintage clutch too (stolen from my mom's closet) - you just can't find gorgeous beaded pieces like this every day!

I hope everyone's Christmas (and other holiday) preparations are going wonderfully! I'm enjoying a fun little vacation in Florida, so it doesn't seem quite as Christmas-y as Missouri does this time of year, but I'll be heading home in a few days to celebrate with my family!

mint + black.
10.20.2012

Top: Forever 21 (Sold out, but I love this mint & black blouse). Shorts: (same shorts, different color here). Heels: Aldo Shoes (love this Steve Madden pair).

There's no denying that color-blocking and the color mint have been two of the biggest trends in fashion recently.
Mint is a versatile color that looks gorgeous on everyone and works in spring/summer with other pastels but also works when the weather turns cold because of its icy undertones. Color-blocking is another trend that's been circulating the past several months, but I've had a little more trouble styling it because I don't typically different solid colors together at one time (a peek at my closet would reveal my love of neutrals). SO, I loved that this top had built-in color-blocking and also loved the crisp, clean contrast between the mint and the black.

4 Ways to Style White Jeans {part 4}.
9.25.2012

White jeans: Asos. Top: Forever 21. Heels: Aldo Shoes (old, but I like these). Bracelet & ring: vintage. Necklace: Forever 21 (old). Earrings: H&M. Nail color: "Haute as Hello" by Essie.

For the final way I styled my white skinny jeans I went for a slightly fancier look to show how you can dress them up a little bit! I just love the contrast between the white and my black high-low blouse (one of my favorite trends at the moment). To dress up the look a little more I added my black studded pumps and some sparkly vintage jewelry.

There are just 2 days left of my giveaway with Libi & Lola and you can enter here! It just takes a minute to enter and the winner gets to choose any item from Megan's adorable shop!

tuesday twist: 4 ways to wear a fancy skirt {part 3}.
7.24.2012

Skirt: Target (old). Strapless cami: PacSun. Beaded clutch and sparkly ring: vintage. Studded heels: Aldo (I like these and these). Watch: Fossil. Pearl wrap bracelet: gifted. Nails: "Minted" by Revlon.

I know I've shown a couple of more casual ways that I wear this skirt, so this week for Tuesday Twist I wanted to do something a little fancier! Black is always a go-to when I want to dress up, and I liked how much the pink tulle stood out against a simple top.

I've realized that all of my favorite pieces of jewelry have been gifts or passed down to me at some point. The freshwater pearl wrap bracelet I'm wearing here was a gift to me on my 8th birthday from my late grandmother. I love how timeless pearls are and that I adore this bracelet even more now than I did when she gave it to me! Similarly, the silver spoon ring I always have on belonged to my mom when she was younger, and I've worn it nearly every day since she passed it down to me. I guess I just love looking down and thinking of special times and people in my life...
What's your favorite piece of jewelry that's been given to you from someone special?
