Favorite Fall/Winter Lip Colors
12.09.2016

fall/winter lip colors

I get tons of questions from you girls on Snapchat and Instagram about lip colors, so I thought I'd round up a few of my favorites for this time of year! It's no secret that I'm obsessed with lip colors, and I don't know if I could ever have enough of them! I keep a wish list on my phone haha 🙈

pretty lip colors for fall & winter
Colourpop "Baracuda"

1. Colourpop "Baracuda"
This has been my favorite color lately, and will be perfect for the holidays! I don't like doing a bright red lip anymore, so this deep berry color is more my style while still adding a bit of drama ;) A big plus is that it's only $6! I like that it's a "satin" color, meaning that it looks pretty matte, but isn't as drying. You can see it worn here, here & here.

Kat Von D "Lolita" liquid lipstick

 2. Kat Von D "Lolita"
I wear this lip color all.the.time. as soon as the weather starts turning cold! It's so flattering, and goes perfectly with every fall and winter color palette. It's described as "chestnut rose," and I would say it has warm, pink-brown undertones. I usually pair it with my MAC lipliner in "whirl." It stays on a long time and is very matte, so it can be pretty drying. I make sure to put on a little chapstick before, and then make sure to have chapstick or gloss with me to add on top a couple of hours later. You can see it worn here, here & here.

MAC "Velvet Teddy" lipstick

3. MAC "Velvet Teddy" + liner in "Whirl"
This is the color you've seen me wear most often over the past year. It's my staple color! I would describe it as a darker nude lipstick with some brown tones in it, and I love pairing it with their liner in "whirl" to add a bit of volume to my lips. This lipstick would be flattering on nearly everyone, and it's not very drying, but lasts really well for a lipstick (it's MAC's matte formula). You can see it worn here, here & here.

Red Apple Lipstick Giveaway
3.05.2014

I'm so excited to have a fabulous giveaway for you today with Red Apple Lipstick! I've been wearing lipsticks from Red Apple for almost a year now, and have never been disappointed. I love that all of their products are fresh, mineral-based, and vegan...and they contain no gluten, soy, petroleum, dairy, harsh chemicals or GMOs. Oh, and all of their lipsticks contain Vitamin E to moisturize your lips, and it so works!

You know I love a bright lip, especially in the spring and summer months. I'm forecasting that orange lipstick is going to have quite a moment this year! It seems a little unconventional, but I promise it's wearable and flattering. Below I'm wearing 4 different orange lip colors from Red Apple Lipstick...

Top right: The boldest and brightest orange - 'Sunkissed'. I love the creamy texture!
Bottom right: 'Push Pop' - a softer, slightly metallic lipstick
Bottom left: 'Firefly' - a pretty tangerine with a hint of sparkle and gold undertones
Top left: 'Fuzzy Navel' - a peachy-tangerine gloss that's so pretty on and moisturizes lips

Lipsticks L to R: Sunkissed, Push Pop, Firefly. Gloss: Fuzzy Navel.

Today, Red Apple Lipstick is giving away a $50 gift certificate to their website! There are lots of easy ways to enter below, so don't miss out! :)
{I highly recommend their Rallye Balm and Exfoliate Stick too}

Good luck!

health & beauty talk.
6.10.2013

Hello beautiful readers!
Remember when I did a giveaway a couple of months back with Red Apple Lipstick? I've continued to work with their brand because I love their unique, but fantastic products. For a quick refresher: Red Apple makes cosmetics that are gluten free, paraben free, allergen free, vegan, mineral based, and that have not been tested on animals! As a very health-minded person, I love the path that their brand is forging. I love that health and clean eating as well as negatives like GMO's and processed foods are being discussed more frequently these days. It's so easy to not think about what we're putting in and on our bodies, but it's so important to our health.

Red Apple Lipstick was recently voted the #1 gluten free cosmetic brand above NARS, Arbonne, and others, and was also recently featured in one of my favorite magazines, Women's Health!

I definitely encourage you to check out Red Apple Lipstick because their products are healthy for you but gorgeous too! Here I am wearing their {super creamy} lipstick in 'Beach Peach' - the perfect everyday shade with just a hint of shimmer. I'm also obsessed with their 'Rallye Balm.'

Have you ever tried any of their products or found ways to be more healthy with your beauty routine??

maxi skirt 3 ways {finale + recap}.
5.22.2013

Skirt: Forever 21 (love this one) | Top: PacSun (similar)
Spiked bracelet: Forever 21 (similar)
Wedges: Target | Necklaces: old Forever 21 & vintage
Lip color: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in "Rendezvous"

This is a great go-to outfit because it's so easy to put together for a last-minute dressy occasion in the summertime. The great thing about a maxi skirt is that it will look great with all different types of tank tops, so you can style endless varieties based off a look like this. Tank top, maxi skirt, wedges - check! Also, I know shorter, statement necklaces are all the rage this season, but I still like layering my longer necklaces with certain tops like this one because it can lengthen a look.

This was the third of three ways I styled this maxi skirt this month!
Which look was your favorite??

statement wedges 4 ways {3}.
4.24.2013

Top: Forever 21 (similar) | Jeans: American Eagle (similar here)
Wedges: Target (found here) | Purse: Tobi
Necklace and Bracelet: vintage
Nails: 'Splash of Grenadine' by Essie | Lips: Revlon

This is my 3rd look styling these wedges, which I wore out a couple of weekends ago! Because I wanted to play up my bright shoes I stuck with "neutrals" - skinny jeans and a black high-low top (yes, I consider denim and black to be neutrals). I threw on the fun green necklace I scored at a vintage shop for $5, and loved that my nails happened to accent the look as well!

Today (Wednesday) is the last day to enter my giveaway with Red Apple Lipstick for a $50 giftcard! Make sure to enter here :)

Beauty Giveaway with Red Apple Lipstick!
4.15.2013

Lipstick in 'Beach Peach' | Rallye Balm

Two of my favorite trends to emerge in the last year have been the resurgence of lipstick and living a more healthy, natural lifestyle. Meet the perfect marriage of those two: Red Apple Lipstick! They make beauty products that are free of gluten, soy, parabens, dairy and allergens. As a gluten free eater and overall health-conscious person, this beauty brand is a breath of fresh air, especially with all of the research lately about the negative effects of soy! To top it all off, their products are actually fantastic! The 'Rallye Balm' uses Vitamin E and other all-natural ingredients to help your lips actually retain moisture and I have to say that I'm addicted. I also have their lipstick in 'Beach Peach' (worn above) and it's the perfect everyday neutral to add a little extra polish to any look. (I also love this super fun pink shade!)

Red Apple Lipstick is offering a $50 giftcard to one of my fabulous readers, and I'm so excited for some of you to try their products!

I'd love to hear what products you're liking and if you entered! Good luck! :)
*This giveaway is open to international readers, but winners outside the US will have to pay for shipping ~ so it's up to you!*

spring trend report.
3.30.2013

Hello lovely!

As a blogger, I'm always on the lookout for the best new trends to try and of course creative ways to style them. Since it's now officially spring (despite getting smacked with another snow storm), I'm welcoming warmer weather, sunshine and cheerier colors with open arms!

These are my favorite trends this spring, which I can't wait to incorporate into my own wardrobe and styling. Hope you enjoy!

1.
Bold Prints
This trend first emerged on the runways, and I hope it's here to stay for awhile. Floral prints are always in season when real flowers start blooming, but I love this year's bolder, bigger take on florals. There are of course all sorts of prints ranging from classic to modern, but the key to this year's take is to style your prints in vibrant colors or even to mix two prints together.

 2.
Bright Lips
You've probably noticed already, but lipstick has made a huge comeback over the past year. A bright lip is such a fun and stylish way to mix up your beauty routine in addition to adding that extra touch of glam to so many spring and summer looks! Based on your skin tone and hair color, try colors ranging from classic red, coral, berry, bright pink, and even orange.

3.
Neon
As you know, I tend to gravitate toward neutrals and pastels in my clothing purchases. However, this season I've really started loving neon hues! I love that neon has been made chic, which inspires so many styling ideas. If neon seems a little scary, try little pops of color through your nails or even a clutch.

4.
Statement Jewelry
Those of you who know me well also know that I tend to like more simplistic jewelry. However, statement jewelry has stolen my heart! In addition to necklaces, I absolutely love a great statement earring.

5.
Stripes
And last but not least - stripes! Somehow, stripes pull off being a classic look and a trendy look at the same time (but I don't think any one of us will complain about that). The common perception is that horizontal stripes will make you appear wider but I definitely beg to differ. There are so many different variaties of prints, and so many different ways to style them, that I think the key is to find pieces you're comfortable with.

Top: J. Crew (borrowed from a friend & sold out) | Jeans: Asos (similar)
Clutch: Forever 21 (similar) | Heels: Aldo Shoes (similar)
Necklace: J. Crew (borrowed) | Bracelet: Forever 21 | Lips: 'Fifth Ave. Fuchsia' by Maybelline

I've been obsessed with this heart-print top from J. Crew for awhile, so when I got the chance to style my friend Claire's I was SO excited! She has the most perfect closet I've ever seen, so I raid it whenever I get the chance (follow her on Instagra - @clairemaples). This top provided the perfect chance to style white skinny jeans in the winter (something unexpected that I love), and also the perfect neutral canvas for a bright pink lip.

fashion feature: Hannah.
2.09.2013

Today I wanted to do a fun little post to feature one of my fashionable friends, Hannah, who also happens to be one of my roommates! We literally ran out the front door to snap these photos on a horribly cold and snowy day last week, but the snowflakes ended up looking precious...so, suffering for beauty really paid off I guess! Anyways, the reason we took pictures in the first place was because I write for the fashion website CollegeFashionista.com, and Hannah was my model for a 'Winter Night Out' look (read the article here). Her outfit was just too cute to not share on here as well! (I'm loving her ultra-glam faux fur vest and lipstick!)

I hope all of you are having a splendid (and relaxing) weekend so far! I'll be back with an outfit post on Monday :)

Jacy
