Burgundy
10.27.2015

Every fall and winter I look forward to wearing burgundy and adding more to my closet. It's such a pretty, flattering color, and pairs beautifully with so many other colors and neutrals. See how I styled it with lighter neutrals in this post last week.
In addition to the collage above, I've gathered a bunch of my favorite burgundy, wine and oxblood finds so that you don't have to dig around as much :) I love online shopping far more than in-store shopping, but it can definitely be time consuming to find exactly what you want!

How are you planning/wanting to wear this color this season?

Bordeaux
11.05.2014

 Top: LOFT (on major sale + extra 40% off!) | Pants: Old Navy (true to size) | Heels: Prabal Gurung for Target (similar here, here) | Bag: H&M (similar here, here) | Necklace: J.Crew Factory (on sale!) | Watch: Fossil | Bracelets: F21, Lily and Laura | Sunnies: Amazon

I've wanted these Old Navy Pixie pants for work for a few months, so when I finally got them last week I couldn't wait to share them with you! They add a much-needed bit of color to my winter work wardrobe (apparently all I own is cream and black), and of course burgundy is always my favorite fall/winter color anyway.

favorite fall 2013 nail polishes
11.04.2013

As you may have noticed, I'm quite the nail polish addict. You'll rarely spot me without any polish on, and when I'm not wearing any it's just to give my nails a mini break. One of my favorite things to try out on my nails is each season's trendy colors. Often times I don't have the money to add a lot of trendy clothing items to my closet (like camo skinnies...*sigh*), so sometimes it's nice to still wear a trend - even if it's only on your nails!

1. Gold + Glitter: Gold and glitter are both having a major moment this year, so this polish is an amazingly glam combination of the two. {Butter London holiday collection in 'Stratford Honey Overcoat'}
2. Navy: Navy is a timeless favorite to wear, but I love wearing it on my nails as well. It achieves the dark polish look without being as dark as black! {Essie polish in 'After School Boy Blazer'}
3. Army Green: Camo, army green and olive green are huge this fall, so why not try it on your nails? {Zoya polish in 'Dree'}
4. Rose Gold: I own this particular polish and it's so pretty! It's metallic and instantly adds glam to a look. {Essie polish in 'Penny Talk'}
5. Dark Gray: Dark gray is a staple fall/winter polish color for me. I own a couple of different Essie ones, but this one from NARS looks fantastic too. {NARS polish in 'Storm Bird'}
6. Emerald Green + Metallic: Emerald is Pantone's 2013 Color of the Year, and will look so glam during the holiday season. {Deborah Lippmann polish in 'Don't Tell Mama'}
7. Dark Cherry / Wine Red: Similar to the 'oxblood' trend of last year, dark cherry and wine reds are still really trendy this fall and winter. {Covergirl polish in 'Wine Stain'}
8. Matte: I think that matte nails are such a cool trend, and instead of buying a bunch of new polishes, just get the look with this top coat! {Essie 'Matte About You'}

Booties: Target | Bag: Phillip Lim for Target (sold out)

Happy weekend! This week has felt sooooo long, yes? I hope all of you had a fun and safe Halloween last night! I didn't dress up this year, but I always love seeing all the adorable kiddos in their costumes!

Have a lovely weekend! I can't wait to catch up on sleep, watch lots of football (and Scandal and New Girl), and hangout with the boy :)

Jeans: Asos | Booties: Target (on sale) | Necklace: Forever 21 (similar)

I scored this pretty blouse and blazer on my trip to Jacksonville, Florida a couple of months ago (gorgeous F21, btw), and they've both proven to be so versatile! This open-front blazer is great for a casual look (like here), but was also great to wear to the career fair I went to the other day...and you've got to love versatility.

As much as I love deeper colors (particularly burgundy & black as you know), boots, and scarves, I am SO ready for it to warm up here! I'm wanting spring, florals, pastels, skirts and flowy tank tops. Badly. So hopefully spring arrives before I go crazy trying to figure out another way to layer!

100th post!
2.03.2013

 Top: Forever 21 (similar) | Skirt: Forever 21 (old)
Heels: Aldo (similar) | Bracelet: American Eagle
Earrings: Forever 21 (old) | Nails: Essie 'Sole Mate'

I've finally reached my 100th post! While I'm not actually having a party about it, I did want to post this little party look I put together. I'm sure you recognize this burgundy top from when I featured it back in November, but I love it so much that I just had to style it one more time before spring color palettes completely take over.

I just wanted to take a little time today to reflect on the many great things I've experienced since starting my blog...

1.
I've found so much inspiration from constantly finding new fantastic bloggers (like yourselves), and it's inspired me to continually evolve my own style. Blogging has also pushed me to be more creative with how I style pieces in my closet... Reading so many blogs (especially some of the bigger ones) can cause you to fall into the trap of constantly wanting more...and while having a fairly extensive closet and adding in trendy items is somewhat important, blogging has opened my eyes to being thankful for what I have while also creatively remixing pieces I already own!

2.
I've really enjoyed getting to 'meet' so many bloggers from not only the US, but all over the world. The blogging community is truly fantastic and I love being a part of it! I've made some fantastic blogger buddies and it's so so fun to watch your blogs grow!

Fun news:
In the next couple of months I'll be working on a blog makeover {design + name...yes name!} and I can't wait for the finished product! In the meantime, I plan to post a little more often starting this month, and I'm hoping that once I graduate from college in May that I'll be able to dedicate even more time to the blog and to all of you!

the burgundy blouse ~ 4 ways {4}.
11.27.2012

 Blouse: Forever 21 (similar here) | Skirt: Target | Booties: Target

I've always loved burgundy and leopard together because of the classic, luxurious feel, and I also love how leopard is having such a moment right now! Obviously I'm loving the burgundy/ox blood trend this fall, but I'm equally loving the leopard trend. It's so nice that there are so many classy pieces being made in leopard-prints these days because I shudder at the memories of 90's and early 2000's cheetah prints (can I get an amen?!).

I always love scoring little gems at Target, and this skirt is definitely no exception! Have any of you heard of the new(ish) Instagram account called @TargetDoesItAgain?? It's my new favorite! It's run by two super-fashionable women who scout out all of the great finds at their local Target.
It. Is. Amazing.

the burgundy blouse ~ 4 ways {3}.
11.20.2012

Blouse: Forever 21 (similar here) | Skirt: H&M (old)
Booties: Aldo (love this pair and this pair) | Tortoise cuff: J. Crew (similar here)

This week I paired my burgundy blouse with a skirt I typically only wear in the summer, but when I saw it hanging in my closet I thought the colors would work just fine for fall too. I'm typically not a fan of paisley, but this skirt was a great deal at H&M a couple of years ago, and goes with So many tops and shoes! I enjoyed mixing a deep color with a "ditzy" print, because I feel that it grounds it and also makes it feel just fine for fall.

I apologize for somewhat neglecting the blog world (both mine & yours!) for the past couple of weeks...school has been crazy as I'm nearing the end of the semester, but now that I'm on a little break for Thanksgiving I'm hoping to get things back into order!

Blouse: Forever 21 (similar finds here and here) | Jeans: Asos
Heels: Target (similar here) | Bracelet: Charming Charlie (old)

Because the color burgundy/ox blood/wine is just about everywhere right now, what better top to feature 4 ways this month? No matter what you want to call it (personally, the name "ox blood" freaks me out a bit), there's no denying that this color family is one of fall's biggest trends! I've found a lot of inspiration for styling all variations of this color on Pinterest (cataloged here) and other blogs, which makes me wish for a bigger clothing budget just about every day (okay, maybe every single day)! For now though, I'm forced to be content with my favorite burgundy nail polish and finding different ways to style this blouse. Sigh.

I have the cutest giveaway coming your way this weekend so make sure to watch out for it on Facebook and Bloglovin!

4 Ways to Style a Fall Skirt {2}.
10.09.2012

Blouse: Forever 21 (sold out, but similar versions here and here). Skirt: PacSun (old, but similar versions here and here).

I wanted to show a dressier way I like to style this tribal-print bodycon skirt, and what better way to do that than with the season's most popular color: burgundy! I was so fortunate to find such a pretty blouse for such a great price on Forever 21.com, and I'm looking forward to styling it all kinds of different ways this fall and winter.

But back to this outfit... I love the versatility of this skirt and the contrast between a casual look like last time and a dressy look for going out as I've shown here! I also styled this outfit with nude suede platform pumps, but Jo and I just couldn't resist shooting in this gorgeous field!
