Work Attire
1.29.2015

Shirt: Forever 21 (similar) | Pants: Zara (love these and these) | Heels: Prabal Gurung for Target (similar here, here) | Bag: H&M (similar price point here, higher end here) | Belt: J.Crew Factory (similar on sale) | Watch: Fossil | Bracelet: From Dylan c/o | Nails: OPI 'Mimosas for Mr. & Mrs.' | Lips: NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in 'Damned'

Let me just start off by saying that it was so freaking windy when I took these yesterday! I had to take an insane amount of photos just to end up with some without crazy windblown hair! I wore this to the office and to some meetings yesterday, and the lighter colors had me dreaming of spring (however one look at the weather forecast for this weekend dashed those dreams).

I hope you're having a great week! The weekend is almost here, thank goodness!

Winterized Skirt
1.28.2015

Sweater: June & Beyond Boutique (cute colorblock sweaters here, here (both an extra 30% off today), here (extra 40% off sale price)) | Skirt: Target (similar) | Boots: Vince Camuto via Nordstrom (40% off!) (similar on sale for $55) | Beanie: Forever 21 (nearly identical) | Bag: Phillip Lim for Target (very similar) | Leggings: Express | Watch: Fossil | Bracelet: From Dylan c/o | Ring: From Dylan c/o | Sunnies: Amazon (want these) | Lips: NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in 'Damned'

I don't know about you, but I always start to get really sick of jeans and pants this time of year! I feel like you can only make a pair of jeans so exciting or creative unless you have a massive supply of cute tops and jackets (which I do not). So, I came up with this idea to style my trusty black skater skirt in a warm, winter-appropriate fashion and I love how it turned out (and that it will work with a bunch of my sweaters/tops).

I also wanted to point out that my OTK boots are now 40% off with almost all sizes still available! Thanks for reading!

2015 Wish List | Things I'm Saving For
1.27.2015

I've been wanting to share my longer-term wish list with you for awhile now, but really wanted to hone in on what I wanted first. Putting together this official list of what I'm saving for has completely motivated me to start saving and prioritizing my purchases! To some this may not look like much, and to others this may look like a lot, and while I won't be able to get all of these this year, it's nice to set some goals. You'll notice that everything falls within a specific color palette... I've really identified my style this year and want to invest in chic, fairly minimal neutral pieces that will be versatile and timeless.

This is the year that I want to start buying nicer handbags, and Rebecca Minkoff bags have been at the top of my list for quite awhile. Her bags are exactly my style (it was nearly impossible to narrow my list down to 3 for this), and are great designer quality at a still-attainable price point. While I will forever dream of owning a Chanel Boy Bag, the Rebecca Minkoff Love Crossbody is a really gorgeous alternative and thousands of dollars cheaper. I love that it and the Medium M.A.B. tote are very classic, chic designs that I know I will love for a very long time if not forever. I've also wanted that Gigi New York clutch for ages and need to commit soon! I think every girl should own a nice, versatile clutch.

I also want to invest in a couple of pairs of great sunglasses this year. I've liked the Karen Walker Super Dupers on absolutely everyone and have worn the heck out of my cheap dupes, so I know I would adore these. The only decision is - black or tortoise? I also bought my first pair of Ray-Ban aviators in NYC this summer and would love them in black. The Karen Walkers are my priority though.

I know that I'll need a new gold watch within the next year. I love my Fossil watch and have worn it nearly every day for over a year, and some of the color is starting to scrape off. So for my next watch I want to invest in a higher quality brand and a watch that's color will hold up for a long time. Any recommendations for me?? I know MK watches are extremely popular.

And some smaller things... I need to replace my old, ugly wallet and have narrowed it down to these Rebecca Minkoff and Kate Spade beauties. I also need to replace my black pumps and add a nude pair to my collection. And last but not least, Kendra Scott earrings aren't a huge splurge by any means, but I want to buy a pair in the next few months and start buying primarily higher-quality jewelry like Kendra Scott, Loren Hope and BaubleBar (my absolute favorites).

Any advice for me or personal experience with these pieces and other investment pieces? What's worth splurging on for you and what do you save on?

Leather & Leopard
1.26.2015

Jacket: Forever 21 (old & desperately need a new one; similar) | Chambray shirt: F21 (similar) | Scarf: Sole Society (currently sold out; love this one) | Hat: Sole Society (sold out; nearly identical) | Jeans: H&M | Ankle Boots: Target (sold out; similar here, here | Leopard Bangle: The Limited (50% off) | Lip color: NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in 'Damned'

I hope you had a great weekend! We were hardly home last week so I enjoyed a pretty lazy weekend at home and spent most of the rainy day yesterday buried in Gone Girl (I'm already 60-70% through it!). This was what I wore for Casual Friday last week, and I love that my booties, hat, jacket and scarf styling add a bit of edge to my chambray shirt + skinny jeans that I've worn 100+ times.

Pop of Orange
1.22.2015

Sweater: H&M (extra 30% off clearance price w/ code 2941 today only. sizes small & medium still available. wearing size small.) | Jeans: H&M (similar & 30% off today) | Flats: TJMaxx (similar here, here) | Bag: Phillip Lim for Target (identical) | Gold Wrap Ring: From Dylan c/o | Leopard Bracelet: The Limited (40% off today) | Small Cuff: From Dylan c/o | Watch: Fossil | Sunnies: Amazon | Lips: Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in 'Be Free' | Nails: Essie 'The Lace is On'

I know, I know... This sudden burst of color may come as a shock to you. But, I love orange and thought this was such a fun pop of color in the middle of all this winter dreariness that I'm really getting sick of. I also couldn't turn down the clearance price (which is an extra 30% off today). I wore this outfit this past weekend for some shopping and hanging out with family, and it was such a great day! We've made huge progress on our house but it's not really decorated or furnished very much, so adding a TV console from Target and a few pieces of art from Homegoods this weekend were pretty much the best thing ever!

Rodan + Fields Skincare Review and Giveaway
1.21.2015

I'm doing something a little different today and branching into skincare. I plan to incorporate a lot more health and beauty posts on here this year, so this post is a great start to that. I started using the Rodan + Fields Unblemish regimen the first week of September, and wanted to use it for several months to really see the effects and to be able to give you a fully educated review. Note: this is not a sponsored post (only one product was provided to me, which I will point out), and as always, all opinions are my own.

A little about R + F...
  • It was started by the dermatologists behind the famous Proactiv
  • It was originally launched in high end department stores (think Nordstrom & Bloomingdales), but left to become a direct sales company in order to bring dermatology-based skincare to everyone
  • Today it's the #4 skincare brand in the US behind just Estee Lauder, Lancome & Clinique

I chose the Unblemish regimen because it's designed for acne and post-acne marks and I felt this is what I needed the most help with. However, they also have three other lines (Reverse, Redefine and Soothe) to meet all kinds of skincare needs.

My skin background...
I've had acne since I was around 13 and in high school and college had pretty oily skin (I have not-so-found memories of constantly reapplying [more like caking on] powder in high school. Gross). Now at 23, my skin has become more combination/dry with very little oil and just a bit of shininess in my T-zone from time-to-time. However, I do still get some acne (especially during that lovely time of the month), and have a lot of post-acne marks and splotchiness.

Here is my before and after using the regimen for 4-5 months (hello long hair!)...

Beyond my obvious lack of a tan right now, you can see that my skin tone is now quite a bit more even on my cheeks and that I only have a couple of small blemishes around my mouth. The biggest difference that I noted was that my post-acne marks really did lighten on my cheeks and somewhat on my forehead. What didn't quite work for me was that my skin got ridiculously dry throughout and I think it's because this regimen is probably best suited for more oily skin. At one point my skin was flaking off in a dandruff-like fashion (sorry, I know that's gross) so I had to stop using the treatment (step 3) for a couple of weeks, and then I gradually went back onto it by using it just once per day unless I had a breakout.

One product I'm absolutely obsessed with and truly look forward to using 2-3 times per week is their Micro-Dermabrasion Paste (c/o)! This isn't included with a regimen, but it's by far the best exfoliant I've ever used and it legitimately leaves my skin feeling baby smooth.

The final say...
I wish it had cleared up my acne a little more than it did and hadn't caused such dryness, but I really was impressed with how much it evened out my skin tone and lighted dark spots. So overall, I think the Unblemish regimen is definitely worth a try especially if you have oily, acne-prone skin!

I also have a neat little giveaway for you all today! My friend and R+F consultant (who is leaving her website and contact information in a comment and is so great to work with!) has provided 5 R+F mini-facials for Love, Lenore readers! These are awesome because you can get 1-2 uses of their products to try out (including that amazing micro-dermabrasion paste) and give your skin a little treat in the meantime :)

The giveaway is open to US residents and will run through 11:59pm on Sunday, January 25. I'll announce the 5 winners in Monday's post.

Oversized
1.20.2015

Sweater: H&M (so soft and cozy + on sale! | runs big, wearing size small) | Jeans: H&M (my favorite jeans) | Hat: Prima Donna | Booties: Elliott Lucca | Bag: H&M (similar) | Leather Pave Bangle: House of Harlow 1960 via my latest Rocksbox (sign up through me & get a $25 giftcard (use code 'GIVEANDGET' at checkout)) | Skinny Cuff & Gold Ring: c/o From Dylan (absolutely love) | Watch: Fossil | Nails: Essie 'the lace is on'

I'll just go ahead and say that it makes me irrationally happy to find a great oversized sweater! When you're tall, finding sweaters that cover the hip area is cause for celebration. I threw this sweater in with my recent online order from H&M on a whim because it was marked down to $15 (and still is!), and I'm so glad I did. It's so soft and cozy, and I love the oversized fit. This outfit is now a go-to for me for casual friday (I'm thankful for them every single time friday rolls around), date nights with Trey, and a little weekend shopping!

My sweater, booties & bracelet are shown in different colors below but are all available in the colors I'm wearing...

Weekend Style
1.19.2015

Leggings: c/o Life is Good | Stackable Mugs: c/o Life is Good (on sale) | Sweater: Forever 21 (similar here, here, here) | Tank: Bloom Studio Market (currently unavailable) | Sneakers: Old Navy (sold out | identical here, also like these) | Beanie: Forever 21 (my favorite!) | Sunnies: Ray-Ban

I wanted to show you guys what a chill day on the weekend looks like for us! Saturday was non-stop busy for us with home shopping (we got some more furniture and decor - yay!), our nephew's basketball games, my brother-in-law's birthday dinner, and seeing American Sniper (which you all should absolutely see). So yesterday, we enjoyed a much slower-paced day at home and relaxed on the couch watching football, went on a run, walked our pups, cooked and cleaned.

I'm sure you noticed Russell's surprise appearance in the 3rd photo! The dogs LOVE when we're home all day, and anytime Trey or I sit down on the couch Russell immediately cuddles up (which I think is the cutest thing ever). On the weekends I like to be as comfortable as possible after wearing nicer work clothes all week. This year, I've really been making an effort to replace some of my ugly sweatpants & t-shirt collection with cute loungewear that can easily work for errands or hanging out with friends and family. Now, my favorite things to wear on the weekend are a quality pair of leggings (the ones I'm wearing are nice and thick), relaxed tanks and tees, and soft sweaters or cute sweatshirts.

I hope you all had a great weekend and that your week is off to a good start!

Minus that first gray sweater below (same as my burgundy one), the others should have a burgundy option once you click through...
