pink blazer 4 ways {part 3}. 3.25.2013

 First of all, I'm so sorry for the delay on my 3rd and 4th pink blazer looks! We've been hit with two different snow storms this week and it's been chaotic to say the least. Also, my dad took these photos...how awesome is he?!

But onto my outfit... This is probably my very favorite way to style a blazer because it's that perfect mix between casual and dressy. I hope to work in a business-casual work environment following graduation (in May - so soon!) and this is an example of what I'd love to wear to work :) A white v-neck and skinny jeans are staples that everyone should have in my opinion. Simply throw on a great pair of heels (black, colorful, wedges, whatever!) and a blazer and you've upgraded your white tee/jeans into a look that's sophisticated and trendy! I layered gold chain necklaces because they're some of my favorite jewelry pieces at the moment, and added a little extra color in my spiked bracelet and mint nails.

 For my second pink blazer look I wanted to style something fun, easy and casual! I intern/work at a casual office, so I like playing around with looks that are trendy but still casual, and this was what I wore to work yesterday. As those of us in the Northern Hemisphere are in that transitional period between winter and spring, I like the challenge of incorporating spring colors into functional winter looks. In the dead of winter I would normally style this look with a black cardigan or something similar, but with spring fast approaching I wanted to throw in some pink! Cue the blazer, purse, lipstick and nail polish. Can you tell I have the spring bug?

With spring just around the corner I wanted to spotlight this pastel pink blazer this month! Ironically, there were a couple of feet on the ground the other day when I shot these photos...so spring-like. Ha! While your blazer doesn't have to be pink, any colored or patterned blazer (think floral or stripes) is the perfect way to top off so many spring outfits! I almost didn't buy this blazer a couple of years ago because I wasn't sure if it would go with enough, but it's proven to be an extremely versatile piece in my wardrobe. Blazers are a great way to step up a casual look just a little bit, and of course are a classic dressy staple.

I love how snow looks in photos, but however pleasant it looks here, taking these photos was not at all glamorous. It was SO cold today and also snowing, so I literally ran out of the car in 4+ inch heels, shed my coat, and stood here for about two minutes trying to look pretty (mind over matter, mind over matter). Why I'm telling you this, I don't know. Shouldn't I be pretending that I have the most glamorous lifestyle ever? But this brings up the non-glamorous side of blogging... We're expected to have perfect hair and makeup, wrinkle-less clothing, impossibly tiny thighs (like how do some gals not have inner thighs?!), and new trendy clothing items and accessories for every post. By the time I'd been been pelted with snow flakes 3 or 4 times today, my curls had fallen out, and I had a weird piece of hair sticking out on one side (UGH). 

Despite these things, I absolutely love blogging. And I can't wait to have more time to dedicate to it after I graduate in 2 1/2 months. Graduating in 2 1/2 months?! Terrifying. But so exciting.

Anyways, I hope you're having a great weekend so far, and that the weather is better where you are than where I am.
