Effortless Off-the-Shoulder Dress
6.01.2017

stripe off-the-shoulder dress

Every spring and summer I look for effortless dresses that are lightweight, comfortable and stylish...and this is one of those! I love that it can be dressed up a bit for dinner, worn casually to a summer BBQ, or for sightseeing and shopping. Every time I wear this dress I find myself keeping it on at the house because it's just so comfortable! Sadly I can't find the stripes in stock anywhere online 😢 (will let you know on IG if it comes back!), but I found it in stock in all sizes in the floral pattern here!

Also, these Quay sunglasses that I keep stealing borrowing from Brianna, are now on sale for just $27! I just ordered the light pink for myself but they come in 3 other colors too!

We made it to Williamsburg, Virginia yesterday afternoon and finally got a good night of sleep last night after staying up all night the night before! We're going to a winery this afternoon, so obviously I'm v. excited about today's plans 😂

Whenever Brianna and I shoot photos together we always laugh and lament that we're trying to make a small Missouri town look like California...or at least somewhere a bit cooler than here. Seriously, why must everything be brown brick around here? Does anyone actually think that looks good? 🙈 When we found this stucco building, I was like, sign me up for more of that plz.

Okay, weird rant over - promise!

I've been wearing this floral top by Amuse Society waayyyy too often since I got it in the mail a couple of weeks ago because it's effortless to style and is so perfect for this time of year. I also just got my new cutoff shorts back from being altered (waist to booty ratio problems) and love them so much. They have a 4in. inseam, which is perfect if you're like me and want a littttlllleee more coverage these days (am I getting old? help). They also come in a light blue wash, but I personally loved this medium wash because it was so different from all of my other denim shorts!

I've always loved graphic tees (remember the days of digging through the Hollister sale shelves? 😂), but I love them more than ever lately! I like that they're a step above your average basic tee and can be worn so many different ways. I had to scoop up this Amuse Society tee a) because I thought it was adorable and they're one of my favorite brands, and b) because we're diehard Mizzou fans and I thought it would be adorable for football and basketball games next year. It's nearly sold out online, but I did find sizes here and here (where I ordered from).

I'm also wearing this mom jeans + heeled mules combo again (also worn here) because I just love them together. So weird but cool (in my opinion anyways 😜). For size reference, my jeans are the 30in inseam because I wanted them to be a bit cropped, and I'm wearing a size 26, so they're true to size. Mine are just a little bit relaxed while still fitting in the waist. This wash also comes in a non-distressed version!

Today I'm celebrating that the work week is nearly over, even though I'll have a meeting until 8 tonight and another crazy busy day tomorrow. But then it will be the weekend and I plan to not think about work if at all possible...and hopefully catch up on my overflowing blog inbox. I really try to do my best at balancing a full time PR job (which definitely ends up being more than 40 hours/week) and blogging, but sometimes there aren't enough hours in the day! Sometimes I feel really burnt out, but for the most part I am always pushing myself to work harder and get more done. I love this space, and it's my creative outlet and escape, so I'm so thankful for those of you who support me and my blog by reading my blog posts, following on social media, and clicking on links. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to be a bigger blogger and have a lot more Instagram followers, but I have to remember to be grateful for the wonderful readers I do have, and I really am grateful for you! You definitely keep me going when I feel like I'm going crazy from stress and a demanding schedule 😊

Dress: Amuse Society (this dress keeps selling out everywhere, but I found sizes here & here as of today! I'm wearing a size small)
Bag: Zara | Heels: Steve Madden | Choker: ASOS

When I found this dress online I knew I had to have it for my California trip and it ended up being the perfect dress. I think long-sleeve maxi dresses are one of the most flattering things you can wear, and this one is simply effortless. I dressed it up with strappy heels & statement earrings for dinner (totally forgot to wear the earrings in pics), but this dress also looks a-maz-ing as a more boho, casual look with booties and a wool/felt hat. If you love this print as much as I do, it also comes in a really cute top (that also comes in black!!!).

Big shoutout to my dad who very patiently and enthusiastically snapped these photos for me right before we headed to the airport! Didn't he do a killer job??

Also...so sorry for being MIA lately. I've been suffering through strep and a fever this week so I've basically been hiding out in my house with greasy hair and savage dark circles. I promise I'll be back to myself soon though :)
