2014 Highlights
12.31.2014

2014 was such an incredible and eventful year, and I have so many things I want to journal on my little slice of the internet so that I can remember them forever!

1.
We added another fur baby to our family this summer named Russell and he's now around 8-9 months old! Like our basset hound mix Lulu (who we've had for 3 years), Russ is also a rescue dog and we love these little mutts like they're our own kids. Despite calling them our "little monsters" sometimes, they have been such a blessing and brought so much joy and laughter into our lives!

If you're interested in adding a pet to your own family this year, I encourage you to explore adopting a shelter animal. It's been such a rewarding experience for us, and there are hundreds of thousands of pets waiting for a chance and a loving home.

2.
We bought a house this year! I grew up with parents who instilled in me at a very young age how important it is to save and be wise with your money, and it was incredible to see my hard work and life savings pay off in being able to purchase our own home at the ages of 23 this summer! I haven't really posted any pictures of our home (inside or out) because it was pretty dang ugly when we bought it (to be perfectly honest) and we still have so many projects to save for and then tackle! But this was a little shot of our house back in October that I got up the guts to share.

We will complete the landscaping in the spring, and eventually want to get a new front door and change the shutter color to brighten it up some more. Inside, we've already redone all the flooring, put in new appliances, and painted every room. Over the next year we're hoping to completely re-do the bathrooms, start saving for a kitchen overhaul, and hopefully buy some more furniture (it's a little sparse right now haha). I can't wait to get to the point where I can share more about our home and its transformation with you!

3.
In the same month as buying a home, I also moved about an hour to a new town (Trey's hometown), and was blessed to get a new job! I'm the Communications Director of our school district and I can now say that I truly love my full time job.

4.
As most of you probably know, Trey and I got engaged last Christmas and got married this summer. I wouldn't say that I loved wedding planning, but it did bring about so many wonderful celebrations including engagement photos, marriage mentorship, two lovely bridal showers, a bachelorette party (pictured), and such a fun rehearsal dinner!

5.
And then we got married! On July 26, 2014... A date I will always cherish, and a day I will always remember.

I'll share all about our wedding with lots of pictures when I get all of them back, but here is a sneak peek at our gorgeous photos by my dear friend Jordyn of Jo Johnson Photography

Being married to this man has undoubtedly been the most wonderful thing of my life, and I'm so happy that it's just the beginning of our lives together.

6.
For our honeymoon, we road tripped to New York City and it was the best trip! It was unconventional for a honeymoon, but we had so much fun together and absolutely fell in love with NYC. I think about that magical city daily...

---

I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for following my journey this past year! This blog is so much fun for me, but I also pour a lot of time and heart into it, so I am so thankful to everyone who takes the time to read it, and to everyone who has given me encouragement along the way.

Happy New Year to all of you!

Favorite Outfit Posts of 2014
12.30.2014

How on earth is it already nearly 2015 already?? Not only has this little holiday break flown by (I go back to work Friday), but I can hardly comprehend how it's already been a year since Trey proposed and I began the craziness of wedding planning.

Each year I like to look back through my blog posts and pick out some favorite outfits. This year was a big transition year for me blog-wise because my blog photos got exponentially better (praise The Lord) and I'm finally to the place in life where I can post a lot more as of this fall. Compared to past years, some of my posts weren't as 'fun,' because this year I've really focused on adding great basics to my closet, as well as nice work wear. But I'm happy with how my style has evolved and with the direction my blog is heading!

This outfit got me featured as a Lauren Conrad 'Chic of the Week' last spring, which was so so exciting for me! And, I'm still obsessed with this outfit for a night out.

I loved this outfit so much that I packed it for my honeymoon. I do love to switch things up with something fun and colorful once in awhile!

This was another outfit from our honeymoon and I just loved these colorful shorts!

This was one of my favorite work looks from this summer & fall, and it's a great reminder to myself that my work outfits can be fun and chic! (My hair looks so long here - ahh!)

Another work look that I loved because it felt a bit edgy and because this was an unusual color for me.

This is a super simple look and I would wear something like this pretty much every day if I could! You all know I love my neutrals and basics, and I know this is an outfit I'll still love 10 years from now.

This pencil skirt was one of my favorite finds this fall (the school district I work for has black & gold as its colors, so it was perfect), and I just love the bold color!

You all know how much I'm loving on hats this fall/winter season, and this was one of the first outfits I put together with one. I love this light neutral look!

This is one of my go-to casual looks right now and I'm obsessed with camel right now (it's so flattering on everyone)!

And last but not least, my beloved burgundy pants that make my winter work wardrobe so much cuter and add some much-needed color!

Thank you all so much for reading my blog in 2014! It means the world to me, and the outpouring of love and encouragement I've received this year has been such a blessing. I'll be back tomorrow to wrap up 2014 with some personal highlights from this wonderful year.

Christmas Day Outfit
12.28.2014

Vest: Target (sold out online, but bought in-store a couple of weeks ago (size XS) | similar here, here) | Top: J.Crew Factory (size small) | Skirt: Target (similar here, here) | Booties: Elliott Lucca (also available here) | Tights: Express | Watch: Fossil | Bracelets: Loren Hope, Margaret Elizabeth

As promised, I'm sharing my Christmas Day outfit! Even though we do my family's Christmas at my parents' house and it's a fairly small gathering, my sister and I always like to dress up a bit and wear something fun. I got this faux fur vest (my first ever) at Target a few weeks ago and I'm so sad that it's now sold out online, but I would say there's a good chance it's still in lots of stores for those of you who are interested/asked on Instagram :)

In case you missed it, you can check out my Christmas blog post here!

Christmas Snapshots
12.26.2014

Loved this little appearance by Russell :)

My family :)

My sister Tessa and I with our good friend/basically sister Sarah!

We used some leftover wedding and bridal shower decorations and they were stunning!

Last Christmas Trey proposed, and this year we got to celebrate our first Christmas being married! Life is so so good with this cutie :)

Happy Holidays everyone! I just wanted to share some iPhone + camera snapshots from our Christmas yesterday. My camera went into a bit of a funk towards the end so I didn't get to shoot dedicated outfit photos, but I'll post a separate outfit post in the next few days.

We celebrated with Trey's family on Christmas Eve and with my family yesterday, which always works out so nicely. We went up early in the day to hangout with my family since we don't see them quite as much anymore, and then lots of friends and family came over for dinner and it was so great!

I hope you all had a wonderful love-filled day with friends and family!

My outfit details:
Vest: Target (sold out online, but bought in-store just a couple of weeks ago | similar here, here) | Top: J.Crew Factory (super on sale today) | Skirt: Target (similar here, here) | Booties: Elliott Lucca (also still available here) | Tights: Express (the best tights if you like the opaque look + they don't slide/sag at all) | Watch: Fossil | Bracelets: Loren Hope, Margaret Elizabeth | Nails: Essie 'Fishnet Stockings'

Merry Christmas Eve | Windowpane Blanket Scarf
12.23.2014

Scarf: Asos | Blazer: Forever 21 (old | similar here, here) | Tee: Target (old | similar on clearance for $4.80!) | Jeans: H&M | Booties: Elliot Lucca via Lord & Taylor (more sizes available here) | Bag: H&M (similar) | Sunglasses: Amazon | Watch: Fossil | Bracelet: Loren Hope

Merry Christmas Eve Eve/Christmas Eve (depending on when you're reading this)! This is an outfit I threw together for some last minute Christmas shopping and grocery shopping today, and it was perfect because of the layers. This Asos blanket scarf is one of my latest closet additions and it's probably my favorite scarf I've ever owned! It's so soft and fleece-y, and it's huge (in a good way).

I hope you all have a blessed Christmas Eve with your families! We celebrate with Trey's family on Christmas Eve and my family on Christmas Day, so it's going to be a wonderful couple of days :)

Jacy
