Pretty summer things | Love, Lenore

I've been slacking in this department a bit, but I'm excited to be back at it. I love collecting my favorite things for you guys!

Spring/Summer Beauty Finds
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen (SPF 40). I’ve recommended this to so many girls already, because it’s truly fantastic. It’s clear. It’s non-greasy. And it works! I wore it every day of our California trip under my makeup, and even though we were outside a lot (including a long hike and a full day at the zoo) I never got remotely burnt on my face. Remember, daily SPF is the easiest and best way to prevent aging (and skin cancer)!

OGX Dry Shampoo. I picked this up at Walgreens after my friend Bri tried the brand, and I’m loving it! It smells amazing, and makes my second and third day roots look great (without giving them a nasty texture). I actually re-purchased this week so I won’t run out!

Not Your Mother’s 10-in-1 Hair Perfector. My sister told me about this, and it’s a great multi-tasking leave-in spray that doesn’t break the bank. I spray then comb through damp hair and my hair has felt super healthy lately. I love Not Your Mother’s products!

Fashion Additions
White mules by Dolce Vita. I was sold when I saw the wrapped heel. So chic! And they’re really comfortable!

Printed scarves. I can't get enough of the hair scarf look! I also love to tie little scarves on my bags. I ordered this hair scarf and love this super chic scarf as well.

Quay Australia Lulu sunglasses. Not only do they share a name with my fur daughter, but they're absolutely adorable and flattering, and the quality is great. They're also on sale!

Healthy Snacks
Veggies dipped in guacamole. As some of you know, I've been eating Keto lately, which means my hummus addiction had to go. However, in an effort to eat more avocado, I started making small batches of guacamole to dip my veggies in, and it's a surprisingly good combo! My favorite to dip is bell pepper slices, although cucumber, cherry tomatoes and carrot chips works great as well.

String cheese. I didn't eat dairy for a few months, so when I decided to try an entirely new eating plan (trying to figure out what works for my skin!), I added cheese back in. I can't tell you how happy this has made me! String cheese has become my favorite snack, and I've had at least one a day lately.

Reads
"'Ma chérie, Il faut se faire la vie belle,' is the soundtrack of my every day. It means, 'My darling, you have to create a beautiful life (no one will do it for you).' Ever since I was a little girl, my grandmother always repeated this line to me. She’d recite this quote as she was watering her flowers, pondering life, decorating her house, baking a cake, setting a table, wrapping a present or recognizing beauty in the world. Her quote has taught me to take matters into my own hands. How can I make a situation more beautiful? Meaningful? Harmonious? How can I turn negativity into positivity? Indeed, so much of my life has flourished because of this way of thinking. It’s incredible how much our thoughts dictate the way we see and react to the world around us. 'Ma chérie, il faut se faire la vie belle!'" - excerpt from this home tour with Alex Noiret.

spring/summer flat lay | gingham top
Top (c/o)  |  Mules (c/o | flat version here)  |  Bag (sold out)  |  Sunglasses  |  Necklace

Did you know my monthly favorites posts are back, but new and *hopefully* improved? If you missed last month's you can read it here.

Random Amazon purchase of the month:
* These $11 sunglasses. These zeroUV frames are so trendy and chic, and you would never guess they were only $11 and not $60+! All the credit goes to my friend Bri for this find. You'll continue to see a lot of these over the spring and summer months!

Apps:
* ColorStory. This is a mobile phone photo editing app that I'm late to the game on but now completely love! It gives you so many editing options, and they have really beautiful filter packs as well. I'm currently enjoying the "Fawn" and "Flashes of Delight" filter packs.
* Unfold. I've been using this app here and there over the past month to create layouts for my Instagram stories. Their layouts and fonts are are super pretty and chic, and are helpful for those of us who appreciate design but aren't great at executing it/creating from scratch.

Budget fashion find:
* Embroidered sweatshirt. A sweatshirt may be a strange favorite purchase, but I know I'll be wearing this little guy A LOT. I'm so drawn to pops of red right now, and I love the vintage, varsity feel. Also, Etoiles means "stars" in French. Cute, right?

3 new beauty favorites | Love, Lenore
Beauty finds:
* The Ordinary Retinol Serum. First of all, this is a 2% retinol serum for $9.80! Yes, you read that right. I've been using it twice a week for 4-5 weeks now and I've noticed visibly brighter, smoother skin. Unfortunately I haven't found a cure for the hormonal acne flair-up on my chin, but hey, at least the rest of my skin is looking good!
* Native Deodorant. I've embarked on the natural deodorant transition, and I'm glad I picked a good one to start with! I got the coconut and vanilla scent, which smells delicious. Does it hold up just as well as my Dove spray deodorant? No lol. But, it's been pretty good so far! Also, Native has free shipping on all orders and you can Google coupon codes :)
* Prive Shine Mist. You can read more in this post, but I'm loving this mist for a bit of extra shine! It makes your hair super silky.

Binge-watch sesh:
* Younger. Trey was recently out of town for part of a weekend and being the introverted homebody that I am,  I made absolutely zero plans while he was gone other than a yoga class (*heaven*). I binge-watched two seasons of Younger (a TV Land show that streams on Hulu), and I love it so much! My friend Mary-Katherine turned me onto it and it's witty and delightful and fashionable.

Can't stop listening to:
* My Favorite Murder podcast. The title of the podcast is bizarre, and I waited for ages to try it out, but it's such a good podcast! The hosts Georgia and Karen tell true crime stories (mostly intriguing murder cases) but they're hilarious gals. It's worth giving a listen to! After listening to a few episodes, I actually started listening from the beginning, and I'm enjoying having so many to listen to (although it is making my slightly more paranoid haha).
* The Black Panther Soundtrack. Trey and I suck at going to movies and still haven't made it to the theater to see the actual movie, but we've been listening to the soundtrack A LOT. Kendrick Lamar + SZA + Khalid is a pretty amazing combo in my eyes (although there are many other artists on it too).

Fall Trend
Captain's caps/baker boy hats
It seems like every single style blogger has jumped on this bandwagon (kind of annoying, I'll admit), but I'm definitely a hat girl and I really do love this trend! I'm wearing this one in the photo above (hard to tell in the pic, but it's burgundy) and just ordered this one in black. Below are a handful of my current favorites:

Refreshing Beauty Products
It's always weirded me out to put an oil on my body, but this one has been a game-changer for me. Not only is the smell so light and pleasant, but this is super lightweight yet moisturizing. I don't feel greasy at all - my skin just feels nourished. You can get 30% off an Advanced Clinicals Amazon order with the code LENORE30!
This is such a refreshing toner and the packaging is on point! I love using it at night after cleansing to remove any stubborn makeup and grime from the day.
I've used this for a couple of years to refresh my skin. The smell is heavenly, and I find that this helps to make my makeup more glowy, and to refresh my skin when I'm feeling and/or looking tired.

And, that's a wrap! Short and sweet this month because it was a crazy one for us. We've been out of town the last five weekends and it's definitely catching up to me. Hopefully next month will hold a few more blog posts for me :)

July Favorites
7.31.2017

Somehow it's already time for my July Favorites post, and honestly, I'm kind of sad about it. Summer is absolutely flying by; Trey returns to his classroom and the football field in a few weeks, the days are getting a bit shorter each day, and our summer travels have come and gone. But I really can't be sad because we've had an amazing, full summer so far! Including, but not limited to, getting hooked on Game of Thrones 😜

This was an eventful month, so I have lots to share in this post!

Chicago riverwalk | Love, Lenore

bike ride along the lake shore in Chicago
22 Hours in Chicago
We made a quick road trip up to Chicago Monday and Tuesday of last week, and it was easily one of the highlights of my summer. We usually don't mind longer drives together because we talk and listen to podcasts and hunt down Chik-Fil-A's. And after a vacation with my family, and a big friend trip, it was really nice to get away for some couple time! We originally had passes for Lollapalooza (this week!), but there ended up being so many individual concerts we wanted to go to this year that we sold those and made new plans. I'm really glad we still made it up to Chicago because Trey had never been and I had only been once for a couple of days in the winter time. We couldn't believe what a beautiful city it was! And there is truly so much to do, so we can't wait to come back.

Monday afternoon we drove up the shoreline and around the city for a bit before checking into our hotel downtown, walked around several parks, grabbed drinks at Cindy's Rooftop (so. gorgeous.), walked on the riverwalk (and drank more rosé), then took an Uber to the West Loop area to eat at Urbanbelly (delicious Asian fusion for cheap) before heading to the J.Cole and Anderson Paak concert at the United Center! The weather was somehow in the 70s in late July, so we walked a ton and just enjoyed the day. And that concert was insane! It was our third time seeing J.Cole and first time seeing Anderson Paak and they didn't disappoint. Tuesday morning we grabbed donuts then headed down to Lake Michigan to ride bikes up the shoreline. It was such a great way to take in the beautiful views and weather before heading home!

marbled Yeti Yoga mat
  Getting Into Yoga
I've taken yoga classes sporadically over the years and always felt a bit bored with it, but a few months ago I tried a new class and I'm so into it now! The teacher is fantastic (which really makes all the difference), and I find the class to be engaging, faster-paced and really challenging. As a former dancer I could always skate by through a yoga class fairly well, but this class has knocked me on my ass (literally and figuratively!) and motivated me so much! I leave with a calm mind and stronger body. I feel the most confident in my body that I have in about 3 years. I can't wait to keep improving and getting stronger (and more flexible) as time goes on. My mat is by Yeti Yoga, who makes the most beautiful and interesting yoga mats I've ever seen. Mine is "The Taurus," which is perfect because I'm actually a Taurus 😉

What Lifts You angel wing mural in Nashville
Visiting Nashville Again
Trey and I went to Nashville just the two of us last summer, and knew we wanted to come back and bring friends. So a couple of weeks ago 10 of us rented an awesome AirBnB and had a really fun week in Nashville together! Needless to say, I needed a food and alcohol detox after that trip 😝

Ban.do agenda
The Most Perfect Planner in the History of Planners
I shared a bit in this blog post about de-stressing, but having a physical planner for the first time in a few years is already feeling really positive for me. I spent about an hour of my Sunday afternoon yesterday writing out blog post ideas, to-do's, upcoming celebrations, and more, and it was such a peaceful way to head into a new week. This planner is the cutest thing evaaaaa, and the layout and aesthetic is exactly what I would design. Each month there is a notes section (perfect for blog post planning!), a monthly view, and then a weekly view. Plus it has stickers (hell yeah). I'm also enjoying my glitter gel pens just as much as I did in 2001!

Slide sandals / herringbone tile floor
  Woven Slides
I've barely worn other shoes since finally buying these woven slides. I love the minimal chic vibe! The only thing I'm upset about is not buying them back in the spring when I first had my eye on them. I have no idea why I waited so long!

Celebrating 3 Years of Marriage with Trey
I cannot believe we've been married 3 years now (and together for 6!), but they say time flies when you're having fun! Married life has been everything I hoped for and more. Life is pretty fantastic when you experience it with your best friend :)

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have an amazing week! xx

Delicate gold jewelry | horn necklace, star earrings
Favorite Jewelry
I'm usually not a huge jewelry person (I hardly ever buy any!), but I've found several lovely and affordable pieces lately that I wanted to share!
-Sugarfix, the Bauble Bar x Target collab, is so cute! They sent me a couple of pieces, but I also purchased the star earrings above!
-The little horn necklace above is my new favorite necklace! It's only $5.99 and can be worn at different lengths.
-This affordable choker set that's perfect for the winter-to-spring transition
-I was also gifted some really cute delicate pieces from Mulberry & Grand that I'm excited to share with you soon and will be wearing all the time! One piece I especially love is this evil eye necklace.

L'Oreal Brow Stylist Definer - dupe for Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Whiz
Milani lipstick in 'matte naked' | L'Oreal brow definer pencil
Off-the-shoulder top | Lipstick ('matte naked')

Favorite Beauty Find
I was hunting for a drugstore dupe of my beloved Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Whiz to save some money and found the perfect one! It's less than half the price and works just as well in my opinion. I use the color 'brunette,' and love that it's not a super warm brown like most drugstore brow products.

Favorite Recipe
Healthy Baked (Lemon + Garlic) Tilapia
I've made this recipe twice over the past couple of weeks and it's so easy and so so good! Also nice and healthy. Definitely try this one!
