Favorite Summer 2015 Clothing Trends

Last week I posted all of my favorite summer accessories trends, so today I'm covering clothes! Even separating the two, I had a really hard time narrowing down my favorite styles to show you for this summer season. Last season I had such a hard time finding skirts and dresses for all of my wedding events, and barely bought any casual clothing either because I just didn't really like anything. This spring and summer has been the complete opposite! I have huge shopping carts at several different online retailers right now that I'm really trying to pair down. It's a good problem to have though :)

Because I ended up with so many trends/styles to cover and found so many great pieces, I decided to do this post widget-style rather than creating a graphic - so I hope that's ok! Please feel free to leave me feedback on which style of post you prefer!

Crisp Whites
Easily one of my favorite trends in the fashion world lately is crisp white pieces and monochromatic white looks. White can be edgy but timeless at the same time, and there are lots of ways to still keep it interesting. I will probably dedicate an entire post to this "trend" in the next few weeks because there are so many gorgeous white pieces out right now!

Distressed Boyfriend Shorts
Polished denim shorts (no distressing, clean folded hemline, uniform washes) are definitely not as in this season because it's all about the distressed look! Even though it seems a little edgy, this style can totally be dressed up in a chic way too with a polished blouse and heels - love. In addition to the distressed look, looser, longer boyfriend styles are everything right now, and they're super flattering!

Shirtdresses
I can't decide if this style should be one word or two, but regardless I absolutely love this polished style. Whether they have a defined waist or are more of a shift style, I think they're equally flattering and I love that many work for the office just as well as they work for a wedding or for casual wear with flat sandals and a hat.

Tops with Detail
T-shirts and tank tops are not innovative news for summer, but one of my favorite ways to keep the ol' t-shirt + shorts combo interesting is to find tops with details. Think lace, embroidery, sheer inserts, tassels, etc. They're chic and can be styled a million different ways (tucked into a pencil skirt at the office, or worn with boyfriend shorts).

Distressed Jeans (both boyfriend and skinny)
This trend has been around for a bit now (and I hope it never goes away), but distressed denim is sticking around for summer when you want a break from showing your legs. I love the distressed look for summer because it balances so well with breezy, feminine tops.

Denim and Utility Skirts
These are both edgier trends that will be super fun to style all summer and into the fall. Denim skirts are a little intimidating but can be so so chic (reference here & here), and utility/cargo skirts feel effortless and minimal paired with breezy white tops and/or earthy tones.

Stripe Shift/Swing Dresses
Stripes are literally always a 'yes,' but I've seen so many adorable striped shift and swing dresses this spring and summer that just feel fresh and effortless. The good news is that this is a very affordable and wearable trend, and there are so many ways you can style it.

Cutoffs
I'm seeing such a rebound in cutoffs this season, and fortunately I do not mean the kind that don't even cover the booty. Cutoff shorts with just a bit of length are both flattering and fun, and like boyfriend shorts can be dressed up or down.
