army jacket + stripes.
9.29.2012

Jacket & dress: Forever 21 (love this jacket at Urban Outfitters). Lace-up booties: Aldo Shoes (old). Watch: Fossil (here).

The last time I featured this dress (here!), I styled it in a summery, nautical way. But, it's such a great dress to throw on in a hurry that I just had to find a way to style it for fall! I love the military-inspired trend that has emerged this fall, and throwing on this army-chic jacket was the perfect way to transition my striped dress into fall and give it a tougher, less preppy feel.

I hope you all are having a wonderful, relaxing weekend! I'm enjoying the cooler weather and watching the Ryder Cup and lots of football (go Mizzou!).

My Dream Closet for Fall.
9.14.2012

The weather is finally starting to cool down here in Missouri, and I can't wait to start wearing my favorite trends for fall! I love wearing earth tones, and fall is the perfect time to do so. Also, as you'll notice in each of these collages, I've selected neutral suede shoes to compliment the various colors and add texture to each look. Gold jewelry is the perfect extra touch to any warm-toned look and I'm in love with delicate necklaces, chunky bracelets, and statement earrings and rings.

70's-Inspired Glamour:
Rachel Zoe is one of the primary reasons I fell in love with fashion, and I couldn't be more obsessed with her style - so I'll definitely be channeling it as much as possible this fall!
I love that flares are making a major comeback, except that now you should purchase an extra-long, dark wash pair to wear with pretty platforms this season (let's not bring back the Hollister/Abercrombie look ever again). The great thing about this trend is that it makes your legs look SO long and slim, and we all want that, am I right?? Style your pair with a chic blouse or blazer, an oversized structured bag, and glamourous gold jewelry and you'll be the most stylish lady around!
Blouse: Mandarin Collared Blouse, americanvintage-store.com. Jeans: Rachel Zoe Indigo Denim Flared Rachel Jeans. Bag: Hermes Birkin Bag. Heels: Nelly Shoes - "Estelle". Ring: Brown Reversible Ring by wallisfashion.com. Bracelet: Solar Eclipse Yellow Gold Bracelet by Lara Bohinc. Necklace: Monogrammed Long Chain Necklace in Gold by Danielle Stevens Jewelry.

Casual-Chic
I'm really liking the tough, military-inspired trend this season, but if you're like me and don't want to fully commit with an army green jacket or cargo skinny pants, simply incorporate the trend with rubber-soled ankle booties and an army green bag. To balance things out, style your look with pretty, feminine pieces like a classic tailored blazer and delicate jewelry like this Michael Kors watch and Kate Spade bangle and earrings.

Blazer: Petite Cropped Sleeve Blazer from TopShop. Jeans: J Brand Low Rise Skinny Jean. Bootie: Michael Kors Elliot Bootie. Bag: PS1 Tote Large Zip Military by Proenza Schouler. Watch: Slim Runway Bracelet Watch by Michael Kors. Earrings: Gumdrop Stud Earrings by Kate Spade. Bangle: New York Et Cetera Idiom Bangle by Kate Spade.

Fall Fancy:
Sometimes getting dressed up once the weather cools off can be tricky, but by incorporating warm earth tones and rich textures like leather and suede, this is a perfect "transitional" look!

Dress: Orange Pinkie Dress by One Teaspoon. Jacket: Cream Leather Mongolian Biker Jacket by River Island. Wedges: Terina Wedges by Aldo. Necklace: Keep It Simple Necklace by Dogeared. Clutch: Crosby Suede Envelope Clutch by Cole Haan. Earrings: "Be Linked In" Crystal-Accented Drop Earrings by Heidi Daus. Bracelet: Katie Gold-Tone Bracelet, Marc by Marc Jacobs.

I hope you enjoyed these fall trend ideas!
