Dressed Up Shorts
5.28.2015

Top: J.Crew Factory (on sale! also love these tanks) | Shorts: c/o June & Beyond Boutique (TTS & can order through email/PayPal! | similar here, here)
Heels: Target (similar here, here) | Clutch: Francesca's (similar here, here - both 30% off at checkout!)
Bracelet: c/o From Dylan | Necklace: Gorjana (via Rocksbox - use code 'lovelenorexoxo' for a free month!)
Nails: China Glaze 'Dance Baby | Lips: BareMinerals 'Fly High'

I feel like everyone's natural instinct when dressing up is to reach for a skirt or dress, and while I absolutely love those, I also love the unexpected look of dressing up a pair of shorts! I've shared on here before how much I love high-waisted pull-on shorts because they're equal parts comfortable and flattering, and so easy to dress up or down. Anything that defines the waistline and makes your legs look miles long is a 'yes' in my book!

I love following the trends for each season, especially ones that cross between seasons and really become staples. Today I'm sharing some of my favorite accessory trends for this upcoming summer season that aren't too trendy and in my opinion are worth purchasing/investing in! These will all make your outfits feel very fresh and of-the-moment, even if you're remixing some older clothing items (which I do almost daily) - the beauty of accessories! I was originally going to do one huge summer trend report that included both clothes and accessories, but it was becoming so massive, so I am splitting them up! I'm hoping to have the clothes one up next week :)

What are your favorite trends this season, and what are you busy adding to your closet??

Simple Maxi Dress + Memorial Day Sales
5.25.2015

Dress: Old Navy | Hat: Target | Bag: Old Navy | Sandals: Steve Madden (available here, more options)
Sunnies: Karen Walker | Bracelet: Margaret Elizabeth | Earrings: Mad Jewels

I hope you're all enjoying a safe and refreshing Memorial Day weekend! I want to first say how grateful I am to our service men and women, and their families, for all of the sacrifices they make. While today is a good time to express this, it's something I think about all the time with my best friend and cousin both married to Marines. I see what their husbands sacrifice, as well as what they sacrifice as military wives, and it's given me an even greater appreciation of our military.

Today's look is simple and classic, and I love how versatile this maxi dress is! I've already worn it on the lake and to dinner, and know it will be the perfect thing to pack for our California trip because I can use it as a beach coverup or dress it up a bit to wear out to dinner. I'm totally back on the maxi dress train and want even more of them!

Hi-Rise Shortie with American Eagle
5.22.2015

Tee: GAP (similar here, here, here) | Shorts: American Eagle c/o | Hat: Target
Sandals: DV by Dolce Vita (order 1/2 size up; similar) | Bag: Old Navy | Lip Color: MAC 'Lickable'

Happy Friday! Today I'm so excited to be partnering with American Eagle and guest posting on their blog to launch their new Denim X Hi-Rise Shortie in 'light destroy!' American Eagle has always been a denim destination for my sister and I, starting way back in the day when I was a size 0 Long in high school and no one else carried that size. I was apprehensive to style a true short short, but I have to say that the denim of these is really soft and stretchy, so they hug your curves and lift everything in a really flattering way!

I don’t know if there’s a more iconic summer clothing item than high-rise denim shorts though! They’re the epitome of classic summer cool, and can take you from the beach to a family BBQ and anywhere in between. For this look I went back to some tried and true classics to create an easy go-to summer outfit. Sometimes I really over-analyze how to style denim shorts, but basics always end up being my best bet.

Head on over to American Eagle's blog to read my guest post, and shop all of their adorable denim shorts, which are BOGO 50% Off right now (with site-wide free shipping)!

Some other summery pieces I'm loving from AE...

Summer Date Night
5.19.2015

Top: Old Navy (comes in 3 prints + 2 solids; wearing size 'Regular S') | Jeans: Topshop via Nordstrom (follow size in parentheses)
Heels: Steve Madden (similar here, here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Hat: Sole Society
Bracelets: Loren Hope, Lily and Laura | Tassel Earrings: Mad Jewels c/o (LOVE) | Lips: MAC 'Lickable'

This is my perfect spring/summer date night look if I'm not in the mood for a skirt or dress! What's even better is that Trey picked out this top for me in Old Navy, so I know for a fact that he loves it haha. I actually love shopping with Trey because he's a guy who doesn't mind shopping (and often is the one who suggests we go) and because he always picks out great stuff for me to try. They're often things I wouldn't necessarily pick out on my own because I tend to be self-conscious of strappy tanks and dresses, and shorter skirts/dresses/shorts (I know, shocking that a guy would pick out those things...), so sometimes he helps me take more risks, which I love!

Also, you'll notice by the end of the week that I will have worn hats in every outfit post this week! A) I'm a total hat lady at this point. B) I am long overdue for a hair appointment, so Thursday afternoon cannot come soon enough! Speaking of hats though, I wear them enough at this point that I'm probably about ready to invest in a great quality one. Shopbop has a great selection of hats that I've been browsing recently!

Go-To Tank
5.18.2015

Top: Pleione at Nordstrom c/o (14 colors/prints | runs big; wearing size XS) | Shorts: June & Beyond Boutique c/o (similar here, here, here) | Sandals: Steve Madden via Nordstrom (sizes available here & here; similar 40% off) | Hat: Target | Bag: Old Navy (5 colors) | Watch: Fossil | Lips: BareMinerals 'Fly High'

For each season I like to come up with a handful of go-to outfits that I can throw on quickly with little thought when I'm in a hurry, and this outfit will definitely be one of mine this summer! This tank is so soft and comfortable, and I love the longer length and color/print. I've talked about Pleione before, but their tops really are some of the very best. The tank I'm wearing comes in 14 adorable color and print options, so I'm thinking I'll need to pick up another one...if I can even decide on which one to get!

Best Spring/Summer Bags Under $50 & Under $100
5.15.2015

While I'm all for choosing wisely and investing in great, high-quality accessories, I know from first-hand experience that that's not always possible. For example, while I knew I was ready to invest in my first smaller bag (I chose this Rebecca Minkoff crossbody), I also desperately needed a large, everyday bag for this spring and summer but couldn't afford to spend hundreds of dollars on one. So, for those of you (like myself) that can't buy a new designer bag each season, or simply need to add some variety to your collection without having to save up, I've rounded up the best handbags (crossbody bags, clutches, satchels, hobos, buckets, and beach/pool totes) for under $50 and then under $100! Keep in mind that many of these come in multiple colors, so be sure to check the other options out. Simple click each photo to shop!

Have an amazing weekend, and thanks for reading!!

Black & White
5.14.2015

Top: Forever 21 (runs large) | Jeans: Topshop via Nordstrom (follow size in parentheses) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Heels: Steve Madden (similar here, here) | Earrings: Kendra Scott | Watch: Fossil | Bracelet: Margaret Elizabeth | Nails: China Glaze 'Dance Baby | Lips: MAC 'Lickable'

"When in doubt, wear black and white" has definitely become a style mantra of mine. For example, I wasn't feeling super creative this morning so I grabbed a favorite pair of black pants and a black top for work, and added a few simple white and cream jewelry pieces. It didn't take a lot of styling, but I feel confident and put-together. These colors will always be a "yes," plus you can just get so much wear out of them by mixing and matching.

On another note, this work week has been exhausting and I've had events every single night, so needless to say I need the weekend to get here ASAP! It feels so close, yet so far away...

May Wish List
5.12.2015

Tassel Earrings (come in lots of colors) | Clear Sunglasses | Coral Cuff

My shopping outlook this month and next is to stock up on pieces I'm missing for summer before it gets hot (and before my vacation)! I'm really really feeling neutral black, white, gray and tan vibes with pops of coral/red/pink. A few things to point out in particular...

-Breezy dresses to dress up or down. I already own the one above (worn in yesterday's post) + this dress, but am eying these dresses here, here, and here.

-Effortless skirts. I'm kind of in love with the cargo skirt above (but do I want it in the tan or olive??) + this gorgeous coral skirt that would be so versatile to style.

-Tees and tanks with interesting detail (think eyelet, lace, ruffles, etc.). Let's be honest...the t-shirt + shorts combo can get extremely boring on repeat all summer. I'm looking for tops with interesting details that can be worn for work or casually with shorts like this one.

-The perfect straw panama hat. I've been lusting after this J.Crew classic, but settled for this Target version for 1/4 of the price for the time being (looks significantly better/different in person, trust me).

-Simple and summery jewelry. I'm not one to buy jewelry often, but I do love to add a few fresh pieces to my collection each season. I just got these cream tassel hoops and they are perfection (and just $28).

-Summer beauty essentials. Next on my beauty wish list is a glowy, summery bronzer as well as a new skincare line to try. Do you have any suggestions?

-More shoes. Always. I actually got the black Nike Roshe Run tennies from my husband for my birthday and they're incredibly good (just order 1/2 size down). Next I'd love to add a little pop of color to my very neutral shoe collection.

-Further additions to my accessory collection. I should probably focus on actually owning an adequate amount of summery tops (because I currently do not), but accessories always seem to steal my attention. I'm kind of in love with these clear sunnies (one of my favorite trends this season) and this gray + gold crossbody bag

What's on your wish list this month?

Palm Print
5.11.2015

Dress: H&M (runs small - wearing size 6; also comes in neon) | Heels: Steve Madden (similar here, here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Earrings: Kendra Scott | Cuff: Loren Hope | Lips: MAC 'lickable'

This is what I wore for my birthday date with my husband last Friday for sushi + drinks! I'm absolutely in love with this palm print dress (you will love the price tag as well) and how it can be dressed up like this or dressed down with some flat sandals or espadrilles and a hat. This will definitely be coming with me on our trip to California this summer because it can multitask and because the palm print is so fitting!

I also got to use my new cross body bag for the first time. It's my first Rebecca Minkoff bag, and I'm SO happy I finally made the plunge (I've wanted one of her designs for ages). The quality is impeccable, plus Shopbop is so user friendly and has free 3-day shipping, so I'm naturally already picking out my next RM bag.

8 on the 8th
5.08.2015

Happy Friday! I turn 24 today, which sounds kind of alarming to me, but I definitely believe that the best is yet to come and I'm thankful for all I've been able to see and accomplish in my life so far.

In celebration of my birthday, I wanted to do something a little different on here today called 8 on the 8th - 8 facts about me. Those of you who have been with me for awhile may know a lot of these things, but I don't have an 'About Me' on my blog right now, so let's start with some things about me...

1. My blog name comes from my middle name, Lenore. It's a name that's been passed down my mom's side of the family, so it's meaningful to me and I think it's such a beautiful name. When I was younger I went through a phase where I didn't like my first name (did anyone else experience this or was I just a weird child??) and thought about going by Lenore. As I got older I grew out of this, but still wanted to use my middle name in a big way. Then this blog came about and seeing as it's such a big part of my life and something I'm so passionate about, using that special name for it was the perfect fit. Will I ever stop getting emails saying "Hi Lenore"? Probably not, but it's totally worth the confusion (at least for me)!

2. I definitely fall more on the introverted than extroverted spectrum. While I wouldn't consider myself shy anymore, and don't get crazy social anxiety or avoid large groups, I definitely excel most easily in small groups or with my husband, or simply alone. I'm comfortable alone, and find that some peaceful alone time each week energizes me and puts me in a more positive, relaxed place.

3. I attended the University of Missouri - Columbia (go Tigers!) for four years and have my Bachelor's degree in Journalism - Strategic Communication. I always wanted to go to a big school, so when I fell in love with the campus and discovered they had the top-ranked journalism school in the nation (still #1), it became the perfect fit. While at Mizzou, I rushed and became a Chi Omega, and later served as a Pi Chi (counselor, basically) for formal recruitment, which was such a fulfilling experience. Mizzou was an overall incredible experience for me in many ways. While there I met my now husband, met some of my closest friends in the world, got to fulfill my love of sports by watching top-tier teams, rivalries and some really memorable games, and truly discovered who I was. Going to a huge school as an introvert was terrifying at times, but it pushed me outside of my comfort zone. I learned how to be self-motivated, how to think for myself, how to find confidence within myself, and how to live/work/communicate with all kinds of people. The experience as a whole made me very open-minded, and much more confident.

4. My husband, Trey, and I live in a smaller town in Missouri right now. I can easily say that I never envisioned myself in a small town or really anywhere but a city. But things change as you get older and you realize that what truly matters is being with the person you love and being around family...when you're with your best friend and partner and have all the love in the world, it doesn't matter where you are. That being said, we are definitely big-city dreaming and don't know what the future holds. Some places we've dreamed and talked about are San Diego (where I was born), NYC, Phoenix, and Kansas City. And yes, everything I wear on my blog I actually wear here. At first I was hesitant to dress more "fashion-forward" and dressy in a small, casual town, but I decided that life is short - so wear what you want to wear :)

5. I was a total late-bloomer. In middle school I was incredibly awkward, and in high school I started growing out of that but had bad style (Hollister was really big then in my defense) and knew nothing about hair and makeup. I was definitely never the girl that always looked cute. Fast forward a few years and I've gone through quite a few style and hair makeovers, and I finally [kind of] know what I'm doing. I'll have to share a few throwback pictures sometime :)

6. I'm naturally blonde! Most people are shocked to find this out because I haven't had my natural hair color in about 6 years. Fun news though...I'm going to be trying out some new things with my hair soon and you just may see a blonde me sometime in the future :)

7. Trey and I bought a house in June of last year, which has been challenging but rewarding. I haven't posted many pictures of the inside or outside yet because when we moved in it was pretty ugly! We've made great progress, but unfortunately home renovations take two little things called time and money :) So, I'm not really ready to unveil anything yet, even though it's come so far! Even rooms we've redone are still very low on furniture and decor, so I'm just trying to finish areas as I can while we save up for the next round of big projects.

8. My favorite things:
  • Colors: black, white, blush pink
  • Scents: lavender and lilac
  • Flowers: peonies and hydrangeas
  • Designers: Chloe, Rebecca Minkoff, Rachel Zoe, Marissa Webb, Prabal Gurung to name a few
  • Places I've Traveled: Greece and NYC
  • Foods: sushi, fruit, Mexican
  • Dessert: ice cream and frozen yogurt
  • Drinks: water, water and more water! but also wine, smoothies and green tea (no soda!)
  • Book: Pride and Prejudice
  • Celebrity Girl Crushes: Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid
  • Miscellaneous things I love: my furries Russell and Lulu, being an aunt, watching my husband coach, getting to stay up late and sleep in, having fresh flowers in the house, and a DVR full of our shows so we can cuddle on the couch and watch them :)

Thank you so much for following my blog and being on this journey with me! Have a wonderful weekend! We're off to a little weekend getaway :)

Distressed Denim
5.07.2015

Top: H&M (old; similar) | Shorts: c/o June & Beyond Boutique (order over IG/phone/email w/ PayPal (just $32) or similar here, here, here) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Sandals: Forever 21 (come in 3 colors) | Hat: Sole Society | Necklace: Kate Spade | Watch: Fossil | Nails: OPI 'mod about you' | Lips: MAC 'lickable'

If I were to have a uniform, this would pretty much be it. Nearly all-black, distressed denim, hat, and structured bag - check! We've had shorts weather this week and it's been absolutely glorious. I know I've whined before about how much trouble I have finding denim shorts that fit right, but I lucked out and found the pair I'm wearing for just $32 at my local boutique, June and Beyond. They don't have an online store yet, but their Instagram shows off all of their adorable clothes (you may or may not find me on there ;)), and you can order off of it by email through PayPal! If you're interested in these shorts they are true to size (the small fits like a size 2-4) and have a little extra room in the leg, which I love.

Tomorrow is my birthday (hooray!), so check back tomorrow for a special birthday post with some fun facts about me and more!
