Mizzou Style | Skater Skirt
10.31.2014

Happy Halloween! Today is the second in the Mizzou Style series with Elle of Living in Color Style and Jacqueline of Stylin' in St. Louis! Be sure to check out their posts (and fabulous blogs) as well!

I've noticed a ton of girls at games this year wearing black skater skirts and black dresses with boots/booties, so I did my own take on the look with a long sweater now that it's fully fall. Regardless of what college team you're rooting for you can turn your team colors into a really cute, trendy outfit! If you live in the south/southwest you can probably still wear skirts to games and I'm pretty jealous about that. Last weekend it was around 80 degrees for Mizzou's game, but this weekend's game (which I'm going to!) will only be about 50 degrees - so I will not be wearing this unfortunately.

Top: Forever 21 (runs big & is long) | Skirt: Target (similar here, here) | Sweater: H&M (similar (only $13)) | Booties: DV by Dolce Vita (limited sizes here | similar) | Bag: Phillip Lim for Target (similar) | Mrs. Necklace: Kate Spade

I hope you all have a wonderful, fun and safe Halloween! This is our first Halloween in our new home, so I'm so excited to dress up and have a bunch of little trick-or-treaters :)

Banded Headbands
10.30.2014

Left to right: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (all c/o Banded)

Today I wanted to tell you about an awesome brand called Banded that makes these fun and gorgeous headbands. But that's not all... Each headband purchased provides 3 meals for a child in Uganda. How amazing is that? Truly a brand that's gorgeous inside and out. Coming from someone who has never been able to get a headband to stay on my head for the life of me, I was so pleasantly surprised by the soft, velvety underside of each headband that provides very minimal slippage. And, they're comfortable! I've worn them all day on a few occasions and never got that 'headband headache.' There are lots of fabrics, colors and widths, including a gorgeous 'luxe' line. My personal favorites are my black sparkly one, this gold & black beauty and these hair ties.

I just wanted to show a few ways that I can very quickly and easily style my headbands (each took under 1 minute). I'll be styling my black sparkly band in an outfit post sometime soon too.

This is my favorite one because it's the definition of easy glam. It would look so cute to dress up an easy top knot, messy low bun or braid, or with your hair tucked up in it for a faux bob look, or 1920's style like this. I think this look is perfect for a fun little girls' night.

This look is perfect for me on the weekends or after I get home from work. When I'm cooking dinner or cleaning I don't like to have my hair in my face, so this gets my front pieces back while helping me salvage some wave for second-day hair.

And then of course, the easy but cute low ponytail or messy bun. I've worn my headbands a bunch of times with a messy bun, but now that my hair is short I'll have to stick to a ponytail for a bit :)

Thanks so much for reading, and I hope you love this brand as much as I do! I'll be back tomorrow with a new outfit post.

PS - Don't forget to enter my giveaway for a gorgeous pair of leather booties from Johnston & Murphy (valued at $298)!

Products were provided by Banded, but all opinions are my own.

Cozy Turtleneck + Johnston & Murphy Boots Giveaway
10.28.2014

Sweater: Forever 21 (here in different colors | lots more below) | Jeans: H&M | Booties: Johnson & Murphy c/o | Bag: H&M (similar here, here) | Lips: Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in 'Crush' | Nails: Essie 'Fall in Line'

We are finally getting our first full week of fall weather this week (it was 80 degrees over the weekend), so it was the perfect timing to finally wear this cozy turtleneck sweater and my new Johnston & Murphy booties! I've really been wanting to add a pair of leather booties to my boot collection, and the quality of these is absolutely incredible. The leather is smooth and shiny, and they have an awesome structured look that's huge right now but also so so classic. For those of you who don't know Johnston & Murphy... They are a classic American footwear brand based in Nashville that has sole high-quality men's shoes since 1850. In 2008, they introduced a women's line that also has that classic, high-quality appeal.

Today, I'm so excited to be giving away a pair of the Sari Harness Jodphur booties that I'm wearing above (valued at $298)! This is an incredible pair of shoes to add to your collection, so don't miss out on the easy ways to enter below!

Giveaway will run through Wednesday, Nov. 5 with the winner announced Thursday, Nov. 6. Open to US residents only.

I'm sure you've noticed by now that I cut several inches off of my hair into a 'lob' (apparently it's the thing to do right now), and I'm loving it! My hair doesn't grow super quickly, so growing my hair out for my wedding took quite awhile, but after getting my wish I was ready for something new and fun (and healthy)!

One of my goals after the wedding was to start learning how to cook and to be able to make several home-cooked meals each week (which I've done). My next goal after that was to start in on green smoothies, which I did this past week! I know that that's a pretty simple goal, but these things just do not come naturally to me haha. Fortunately I've loved how they've turned out so far and I'm already getting the habit of making one in the morning to take to work :) Any favorite healthy smoothy recipes for me??

I somehow didn't own a pair of black flats (yes, insane), so I was so happy to find this gorgeous leather Franco Sarto pair at TJ Maxx! The good news is that I found them online for you all as well (I sized down 1/2 size)!

I've also been wearing this leopard scarf a bunch and as always, I've found accessories like this are really the best way to add some interest to your basics and remix your outfits!

Sole Society scarf (similar) | H&M jeans ('denim blue') | Piko tee (via June & Beyond Boutique | found here online) | H&M bag (similar here, here) | DV by Dolce Vita booties (2 sizes left here | similar)

Cozy fall evenings are my absolute favorite! I also wanted to share this little centerpiece idea on here because it's SO easy and cute! I just bought around 6 mini pumpkins and arranged them in a glass bowl :)

Now that the weather is cooling off I've found myself craving warm coffee and all I want to do is curl up on the couch with a cup and a book! Too bad work gets in the way of that ;)

Easy but cute outfits like this one have become my weekend go-to when I'm running errands so that I'm still comfy but get to wear some of my casual favorites. This top is actually a sweatshirt and I love how soft and long it is (and the color)! This was snapped on a busy Saturday morning where I got to photograph a precious basketball clinic for special needs kiddos in our school district.

Based on the fact that I've already painted my nails with it twice in the past month, Essie 'Chinchilly' is definitely still one of my top 3 favorite polishes.

This is probably not a big deal to most, but as a taller girl I haven't owned a cute pair of PJ pants in years because I can never find them long enough! I am rejoicing though that I found this stinkin adorable pair at Target that are so cozy (and long enough)!

I couldn't find them online, but just bought them a couple of weeks ago in-store. I love these too!

I snapped this after taking outfit photos one evening because this hat and lipstick are my very favorites at the moment!

AND, an Insta post wouldn't be complete without a picture of my little love, Russell! Russ is somewhere between 6 and 7 months now (I tell him every day to stop growing) and he's still as cute as ever! Unfortunately, he's learned that he can jump up on our kitchen table, and is also in a very destructive phase at the moment. Much to my chagrin, this means that cute decor is still not in the cards.

Thanks so much for reading! As always, I would love for you to keep up with my blog and everyday life via Instagram at @jacylenore!

I'll have an outfit post for you tomorrow :)

Mizzou Style | Leopard Scarf
10.24.2014

Today I'm so excited to be launching a 4-part Mizzou Style series with two other fabulous bloggers: Elle of Living in Color Style and Jacqueline of Stylin' in St. Louis! We all happen to be Mizzou alumni, so of course football season is a big deal. This weekend is Homecoming for Mizzou (cool fact: Mizzou is actually considered 'the birthplace of Homecoming'), so it was the perfect time to kick off our Mizzou Style series with some black and gold looks :)

Sweater: GAP (just sold out | similar here, here) | Jeans: H&M (50% off) | Boots: Vince Camuto via Sole Society (more options below) | Jacket: Forever 21 (old | similar here, here) | Scarf: Sole Society (nearly identical) | Bag: H&M (similar) | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Black & gold bracelet: House of Harlow 1960 | Watch: Fossil | Lips: Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in 'Crush'

For my first Mizzou Style look I wanted to show an outfit I actually wore to a game a couple of weeks ago! A simple black sweater is a closet essential in my book, and pairs perfectly with a leopard scarf for a chic bit of 'gold.' I went with a leather bomber jacket and my over-the-knee boots for some warmth, and then of course had to have sunglasses for the game.

I hope you enjoy our new series and that you check out Elle and Jacqueline's posts as well! Have a great weekend :)

PS - here's a photo of Trey and I at the Georgia game two weeks ago :)

Nothing is Stronger Than Love
10.23.2014

Tee: Life is Good c/o (size medium) | Jeans: H&M ('denim blue') | Booties: Steve Madden (old | similar) | Bag: H&M (similar) | Watch: Fossil | Bracelets: Lily and Laura (many options here) | Lips: Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in 'Crush'

Today I have a special post for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in partnership with Life is Good! My tee is part of their new Beauty in the Battle collection, and the awesome part about it is that they're donating 100% of net profits from this collection to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, which contributes to both research and care. I love when something I own and wear can serve a greater purpose, and with 3 family friends fighting or recovering from breast cancer currently, this cause is one that's been weighing on my heart lately.

Thanks for reading!

Thank you to Life is Good for partnering with me for this post!

Casual Spots
10.22.2014

Cardigan: H&M (love this one! more here and here) // Jeans: H&M in 'denim blue' (similar) // Tank: J.Crew Factory // Flats: Franco Sarto via TJ Maxx (similar) // Hat: Sole Society // Bag: H&M (similar) // Necklace: boutique find (similar) // Watch: Fossil // Bracelets: Margaret Elizabeth, Lily and Laura // Lips: Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in 'Crush'

Today I'm wearing a new favorite casual outfit that is definitely becoming one of my go-to's. I'd wanted a leopard cardigan for ages but wanted one that was more subtle, so this one was the perfect solution. Unfortunately it's no longer online but I've linked to some really cute similar ones above and below.

I have to be honest and say that I styled a different outfit around this cardigan that I had planned to post yesterday... It was one of those situations where I came up with the idea a few weeks ago and wrote it down and then didn't have time to actually try it on before packing it up for photos after work (terrible idea)...and let me tell ya...it was disastrous (way too much black)! I hate when an outfit seems awesomely chic and fashion-forward in your head and then ends up making you look like a total weird-o haha. Anywho, I scrapped that post and posted a day late in order to post an outfit I actually love! And hopefully you agree that it was worth it :)

October Wish List
10.20.2014

Gigi New York Uber Clutch
Brina Box Blanket Scarf (lots more options below)
Sole Society Wool Panama Hat
H&M Coated Ankle Zip Jeans (also have in 'denim blue')
Forever 21 Cognac Booties

I just wanted to share some trends I've been loving and pieces I'm hoping to add to my closet soon! I'm holding myself to a very limited shopping budget this month (unless I find the right pea coat), so I'm doing some careful planning, sale watching and making a few sacrifices.

I actually already bought the ankle zip jeans (in both the coated black & the denim blue) and they're amazing! They honestly look and feel so expensive (thank you H&M) and are comfortable and sleek (but they are very fitted, so go up a size). I love ankle length jeans because they're so easy to wear with booties (you don't have to worry about cuffing and bunching at all), and the zipper detail adds some nice edge! To be honest, I really wanted these cognac booties, but I think in order to get in on the trend and maintain my budget I'm going to settle for the faux leather pair above. I really want black and burgundy wool panama hats, and this is my favorite I've found, so I'm going to be watching for a Sole Society sale. Blanket scarves may be even bigger this year than last, so I'm hoping to get the one above or one of the ones from Asos below (I've also seen them on Groopdealz a couple of times as well). Last but not least, I won't be splurging on that gorgeous Gigi New York clutch just yet, but until then it will remain on my wish list.

Jacy
