April Remix: White Jeans {3 + recap}
4.29.2014

Top: Tobi | Jeans: American Eagle (on sale!)
Heels: Steve Madden (similar here and here) | Bag: Phillip Lim for Target

I can't believe I'm wrapping up yet another remix series! I've styled my white skinny jeans 3 different ways for spring, and I'm wrapping it up with a little going out/date night look! I love a simple, loose tank for a night out because they're easy to dress up, and I just always feel best with a little breathing room. Normally white jeans wouldn't be my first choice for a going out look, but with black and red they make quite a statement!

Here are all 3 looks!

Which look was your favorite??

xo,
Jacy

PS ~ I'm really considering not doing my monthly remix series anymore. These past few months I just haven't been feeling as inspired, and I almost feel like I'm limiting myself a bit. I don't know... Maybe if I take a break I'll be into it again. What are your thoughts? Is this something you really love seeing on here or is it just 'eh'? Or would you like an occasional remix post showing a few different ways I've worn a particular item over the course of normal blog posts??

Crop Top
4.28.2014

Top: Forever 21 (in-store | black crop top picks below) | Skirt: Forever 21 (in-store | black skater skirt picks below)
Heels: Steve Madden (similar here and here) | Bag: Phillip Lim for Target
Necklace: Forever 21

I actually wore this outfit for our engagement photos, and it was just the right amount of fun & daring I was looking for in my final look. My 3 other outfits were dresses, so this changed it up perfectly. Hopefully years from now I'll still love this outfit, but we'll see! ;)

I was so skeptical of the crop top trend at first, but now I'm fully a fan when paired with a high-waisted skirt or shorts! This was the first one I've bought, and I've since purchased two more, which I think will be so fun to wear on our honeymoon in NYC!

Jacy

PS ~ I'll have a few wedding-themed posts (including engagement photos) coming in the next few weeks!

Pattern Play
4.25.2014

Top: H&M (available in lots of colors) | Pants: H&M (I sized up because they're a slim-fitting stretch pant) (similar)
Heels: Target (similar) | Bag: Phillip Lim for Target
Necklace: J. Crew Factory | Bracelets: F21 & Lia Sophia

Hello and Happy Friday!
In today's look I'm wearing both a bright color (insanely bright, really) and a bold print! Both are rare for me, but I'm loving the fun result (and finally having some new clothes to style). These are two trends I'm pretty obsessed with at the moment too... Slim cropped ankle pants are my new favorite (I have two pairs of this silhouette and am ordering a 3rd today). They're quite flattering and can be dressed up or down! And then wrap-front blouses are a fun trend too! I'm loving mine from H&M and wanted all of the color and print options.

Hope you all have a great weekend! We'll be continuing the home search, and working on some furniture DIY projects :)

Bargain Beauty Favs
4.23.2014

Jordana BestLash Mascara | e.l.f. Jumbo Lipgloss Stick (in 'pink umbrellas')
Revlon Colorburst Balm Stains (in 'Rendezvous,' 'Lovesick' & 'Smitten')
Revlon nail colors in 'Siren' and 'Lily' | Lipsmackers Dr. Pepper chapstick

This past year, I've been experimenting more with makeup products (both high and low-end), and I've gotten so much better at doing makeup, have found products that work better for me, and I've actually started really enjoying it. While some items are definitely worth splurging on (in my case - foundation), others can be just as great at bargain prices. I relish any opportunity to save money, especially because I'm about to get married and buy a house!

I've seen rave reviews of e.l.f. products on Pinterest and beauty blogs, and finally gave a couple of them a try. This blush/bronzer duo is a whopping $3 (can you say score?) and it's great to have in your purse for touch-ups. I've been using the blush every day (the pale peach is great for my pale skin), but be warned: the bronzer is quite pigmented. It's not my everyday bronzer, but it's great for doing a little contouring at night, or for having in your purse for touch-ups. The Jumbo Lipgloss Stick was an impulse buy at Target for $2, and I love the light tint and gloss, and mint flavor.

Smith's Rosebud Salve will forever be a favorite of mine because it's super affordable, lasts forever, and most importantly - is a great product! I've seen it sold for anywhere between $3-6 at Ulta, Sephora, Anthropologie and Bath & Body Works. I've had my little tin for 4 years, and I use it every single night before bed. It's a great bit of sheen and a light tint that moisturize so well, and it can be used on dry cuticles and knuckles too.

NYX products get great reviews from makeup artists, and from what I've tried I completely agree. I absolutely love their creamy lipsticks, and I've heard that their eyeshadows are comparable to MAC (hence why they are next on my list to try). Ulta has a huge selection of NYX, but Target sells some too.

Jordana BestLash Mascara is so impressive. A friend told me she liked it better than Benefit's 'They're Real' mascara (a hefty $23), and for $3 at Walgreens I of course had to try. The volume is fabulous and clump-free, and I've used it for several months now! The one downside is that it dries out a few weeks quicker than other mascaras I've used...but at $3 a pop, I'm still saving quite a bit of money.

Revlon has always been my favorite drugstore brand. I grew up watching my mom wear their lipsticks and nail colors, and now I'm an avid wearer. Their nail colors are my favorite lower-end polishes (Siren, Lily, and Minted are some of my favs) because they go one smoothly and stay pretty well. And then their lipcolors...seriously amazing! As you can see I've got a collection of the tinted balm stains going on (they also have new matte & gloss colors this year), and I also own colors from their Super Lustrous Lipstick and Colorburst Lip Butter lines.

Okay, this one is embarrassing, but I had to include it because it's so great. I've used Lipsmackers Dr. Pepper chapstick since I was a little kid (seriously), and I can't break the habit. It smells like cherry DP, and has a great sheen and subtle red tint. I'm wearing it as I type this, and it's stayed on my lips for two hours this morning without reapplication. Oh, and did I mention it's $2?? Bam.

Thanks for reading!

April Remix: White Jeans {2}
4.21.2014

Top: H&M | Jeans: American Eagle (on sale)
Flats: Target | Bag: The Limited (40% off!)
Watch: Fossil

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and weekend! Working in marketing doesn't leave me with a ton of days off, but fortunately we got Friday off, which made for a wonderful (and much-needed) long weekend filled with house-hunting (eek!) and family time.

This is a super easy and classic look that works really well for a casual workplace, weekend lunch, etc. Blue and white are such a crisp pairing and I always gravitate toward blue tops when I wear these jeans.

I hope your work or school week is off to a great start!

Jacy

Spring Pastels
4.16.2014

Pink blouse (+ another gorgeous option here) | Lavender necklace

Spring colors are my absolute favorite! I love that pastels don't stray too far away from my favorite neutrals (and pair well with them too), but add some color and so much femininity. Since I won't be able to add many to my closet this spring, I've been doing lots of 'wish list' shopping with pieces I'd love to have (including all of the above).

Tops & dresses

Skirts, shorts, pants

Accessories

Any particular pastel pieces you're wishing for?

A Fun Accessory
4.14.2014

Top: Banana Republic (old, similar here + more below) | Jeans: Forever 21
Bag: The Limited | Wedges: Target (love these)
Headband: Do-Da Wraps c/o (navy/white vertical stripes in turban style) | Necklace: Forever 21 (similar here & here)
Watch: Fossil | Bracelet: Reece & Blair from Crave Boutique

One of my favorite ways to add a little 'vavavoom' in the spring and summer (or to cover up humidity-stricken or unwashed hair) is wearing headbands! I'm loving my new navy & white turban headband from Do-Da Wraps, and it's going to be perfect for anything from work (like styled above) to a top knot at the pool. Do-Da Wraps is a new favorite Etsy shop, and I love Sarahn's quick turnaround time, adorable fabrics, and wonderful customer service. Something I really liked was that any of the fabrics on her Etsy page can be made as a headwrap or the turban style, and that my headband is smooth and stretchy (much more comfortable than headbands I've owned in the past). Be sure to check out Do-Da Wraps, and take 25% off your entire order with the code 'JACY25'!

Springtime Boho
4.09.2014

Top: Tobi (last year | similar here, here, here) | Jeans: Forever 21
Shoes: BCBGeneration (last year | similar: low, middle, higher)
Clutch: Gap (similar) | Nails: Orly 'Pink Waterfall'
Bracelets: Lily and Laura (great online shop to buy them here)

I feel like the warmer it gets, the more color I want to wear! You know I'm mostly a neutral type of gal, but I do love some fun pops of color. I love the bohemian vibe come spring and summer, so this top is the perfect way to wear it subtly. I wore it to a great concert with my best friends last spring, so it has some fun memories tied to it too :)

I hope the weather is warming up where you are! It looks like we're finally going to have a sunny, rain-free day today to enjoy the temps and blooms :)

Jacy

April Remix: White Jeans {1}
4.07.2014

Shirt: Forever 21 (similar) | Jeans: American Eagle (+ similar pair below)
Shoes: BCBGeneration (similar low, middle, high) | Clutch: Gap (old | love this one)
Watch: Fossil | Earrings: Francescas (similar high and low)
Bracelets: Lily and Laura (handmade by women in Nepal | great shop for them here)

I realize white skinny jeans are nothing new and exciting, and that I've remixed them multiple times before (last fall included). But everything spring rolls around they feel so fun and fresh, and I love how many ways there are to style them! Prints, solids, sweaters, breezy tanks, brights, neutrals...all so cute! So, stick with me as I wear my trusted white skinnies some more. This is my first look of 3 this month!

Spring Beauty | Pastel Polish
4.04.2014

I'm sure most of you have noticed how much of a nail polish addict I am! You'll rarely catch me without polish on, and I go through a semi-intense inner battle every time I'm at Target or Ulta to avoid buying 17492 more colors. I used to be somewhat reckless when buying nail colors (it was a great little pick-me-up in college when I had pretty much no money to spend on myself), but now I've started planning what colors to buy so I'm not wasting my money (because these little things add up).

Mint is such a fun spring color, and Revlon's 'Minted' is one of my very favorite polishes (I couldn't find a link for you all - so sorry). Essie 'Mint Candy Apple' is also a cute mint polish.

I know white isn't technically a pastel...or a even color...but I bought Essie's 'Blanc' last week and I'm obsessed! With two coats I got an awesome opaque white, and it's going to look even better in the summer with a tan.

Pale pinks are honestly a year-round look for me, but I do wear them more in the springtime. Essie 'French Affair' is a brighter, more 'chalky'  pink that makes a girly statement. I wore it for our engagement photos, so I have a feeling I'll always love it :) OPI's 'Mimosas for Mr. and Mrs.' is another one of my favorite polishes, and it's the perfect delicate pink. My best friend used it as the nail color for her wedding last fall (seriously...how cute is the name?), and I'm thinking about following suite. Essie's 'Fiji' and 'Ballet Slippers' are some other gorgeous pale pinks.

Lavender is probably my favorite color (besides black if that even counts), and I love it so much that it's actually my wedding color. I own two different lavender polishes and love both equally. Revlon 'Lily' (pictured) is a brighter lavender, and Essie 'Nice is Nice' is a more pale and sheer lavender.

What colors (and brands) are you loving right now for spring??

xo,
Jacy

PS ~ I post a lot of photos of my nail colors & manis on my Instagram account - @jacylenore - if you'd like to check them out!

Little Black [Shift] Dress
4.02.2014

Dress: Rodi Boutique (similar here + more below) | Bag: Rodi Boutique (order by calling 417-886-1211 | similar here)
Flats: Target (similar) | Necklace: Forever 21
Watch: Fossil | Bracelets: Forever 21 | Nails: Orly "Pink Waterfall"

Black and hot pink/coral has always been a fun, favorite pairing of mine. I never hesitate to add more black to my wardrobe because it's flattering and oh-so-versatile, plus it makes it easy to style pops of color. I love this as a spring outfit because it doesn't venture all the way into sundress territory, but is still a springy step up from sweaters and jeans.

Hope you're having a great week so far!

Jacy
