august remix: printed skirt {3 + recap}
8.29.2013

Top: Target (men's, on clearance) (similar, girlier version here) | Skirt: Target
Booties: Steve Madden (similar here and here) | Bag: Nine West (similar)
Sunglasses: Anthropologie | Bangle: vintage

I don't know how it's already the end of August, but somehow it's time to wrap up this month's remix series! This is probably my favorite look of the three because I love the hip, casual vibe of my Budweiser tee and booties with a skirt. I'm basically dying for a concert to wear this to...haha.

And now for a recap of all 3 looks!

Which remix look was your favorite??

Top: Forever 21 (on sale!) | Shorts: Forever 21 (old, but love these + all of my picks below)
Heels: Steve Madden | Clutch: Gap
Bracelets: Asos and vintage | Earrings: Aldo (old)

If you've been following me awhile or even if you just check in occasionally, you've probably noticed that I l.o.v.e. high-waisted shorts and skirts! I personally think that high-waisted a-line skirts, maxi skirts and even skater skirts are some of the most flattering pieces out there! I purchased this pair of printed, high-waisted shorts a few years ago, but they've proven to be more versatile than I ever would have imagined. They make for a great summer-to-fall transitional going out look like here (hemlines for hot temps in fall colors), or can even be styled for winter over tights like I did in this post.

Some high-waisted shorts that are perfect for a transitional look:

Top: c/o Ali & Kris (similar) | Skirt: Francesca's (similar)
Heels: Steve Madden | Bag: Tobi (found here)
Bracelet: Asos | Nails: Revlon 'Lily'

After deliberating most of the summer, I finally bought the Steve Madden Realove sandals! I'm so glad I did because I'm a little bit in love. They're trendy yet classic, and are so versatile. Prepare yourself to see them on here a lot... :)

Top: H&M (similar here and here) | Jeans: Gap (similar)
Wedges: Target | Bag: Aldo (old, but love this one)
Sunglasses: Anthropologie | Watch: Fossil | Bracelets: Lily and Laura (cute sets here)

This is a pretty simple outfit post of what I wore to work yesterday! Paired down, it's just the classic pairing of a white top and jeans, but there are of course nearly endless ways to play with the combo. In this case, I added subtle bits of color in my wedges and bracelets (and a bit of lipstick of course), then kept everything else neutral!

Two more days until the weekend! Woot woot!

Top: Forever 21 | Skirt: Target
Wedges: Target | Bag: love this one | Lipstick: Red Apple Lipstick
Bracelets: Lily and Laura (handcrafted by women in Nepal) (adorable sets available here)

My sister was on vacation last week, so I conveniently shopped her closet for work outfits before she moved back to college Sunday (consequently taking all of her clothes with her). Both this skirt and top are hers, but in my credit, I did help pick both of them out when she bought them recently :) I think this top is so fun though, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it's still available (and for a fantastic price too)! As usual, I simply added a pop of color to a neutral outfit with my bag and voila ~ easy breezy work outfit!

august wishlist + pre-fall picks
8.18.2013

These are some items I'm crushing on at the moment! It's still very warm here in August typically, but this year it's been a little cooler and I've got summer-to-fall dressing on my mind. When transitioning to slightly cooler temperatures, I look for dresses and tops that will pair well with a jacket on top - whether it be denim, leather or military-inspired. Cognac, nude and black are my go-to accessory colors, and booties are my fall shoes of choice. Besides that I look for small pops of color, and items that will be versatile for different temperatures and seasons.

What must-haves do you have on your fall shopping list this year??

Top: Target | Skirt Forever 21 (old, but I like this one)
Clutch: Gap | Sandals: Target
Earrings: Aldo (old) | Necklace: F21 (similar) | Bracelets: Asos, Francesca's, vintage

I don't know how it happened so soon, but all of a sudden I'm in a fall state of mind. I've had sweaters and booties on the brain, but it's definitely still summertime here. I have started thinking of ways to transition my wardrobe from summer to fall though, and maxi skirts are one of my favorite ways to do that! This skirt will definitely be a go-to in the next several weeks!

Top: Forever 21 (similar here) | Skirt: Target
Wedges: Steve Madden (purchased last year, but here's a similar pair) | Watch: Fossil

Here's the second look of my August Remix series featuring this adorable printed skirt from Target! If you missed the first post or want a refresher, here it is! I know summer is kind of drawing to a close, but I'm milking the rest of the warm weather as much as possible. However, one of my favorite pieces to transition between seasons is a chambray shirt. I see a chambray shirt remix coming up in the coming months...any interest??

Top: Target | Shorts: Express (similar)
Wedges: Target | Bag: Tobi (last seen here)
Necklace: Forever 21 (similar) | Bracelet: ASOS

I've been crazily obsessed with orange this summer! Embarrassingly enough, my bedroom used to be coral and tangerine, and once I realized how un-chic that was (and how much of a headache it gave me), I disowned orange for a few years. But, I'm obsessed again. Hopefully in a more tasteful way this time around though...

Top: brand unknown (similar here + love this one) | Skirt: Target
Clutch: Gap | Wedges: Target | Bracelet: Asos

I just got this clutch from Gap and couldn't wait to style it! I love neon in small doses, so the neutral color-blocking paired with bright yellow was just what I've been looking for. I'm sure you'll be seeing it quuiiiitte a bit in the near future.

Top: Target | Jeans: American Eagle (or similar here)
Wedges: Target | Bag: Tobi (found here)
Necklace: F21 (similar) | Headband: DIY by a friend!
Bracelets: Lily and Laura

I've always loved black and white together. It can be classic and/or trendy at the same time, and it's the perfect palette for fun pops of color and prints!

Top: ASOS (sold out, but love this top) | Skirt: Forever 21 (similar here and here)
Sandals: Target | Earrings: Francesca's (in-store) | Bracelets: ASOS and F21

I'll go ahead and say it...I love maxi skirts! They're easy to throw on, comfy to wear, but up the elegance or chic factor any day. The last time I styled this maxi skirt (here) was dressier, but today I wanted to show a casual way I styled this maxi skirt for work last week.

I hope all of you had a wonderful, relaxing weekend! Good luck facing Monday tomorrow ;)

august remix: printed skirt {1}
8.01.2013

Top: H&M (in-store only / like these sheer panel tees here & here) | Skirt: Target
Shoes: Target | Necklace: 'Beadz & Bling' Etsy shop (J. Crew original here)
Bracelets: ASOS, F21, Francesca's

It's a new month, which means it's time for a new remix series and I'm jumping right in! I couldn't wait any longer to post this skirt. It's without a doubt one of my favorite purchases this year and the $14.99 price tag makes it that much better. I've been extra obsessed with coral, orange and red this summer, so I love this fun orange-y print! I also love the challenge of dressing up a casual skirt a little bit. In this case, the sheer panel dresses up my tee, and my jewelry and heels add a slightly more sophisticated feel.

I loved all of your responses to last month's remix series, so I hope you all enjoy this one as well!
