 High-low blouse, floral skirt, fedora, necklace: Forever 21. Bracelet: vintage. Black strappy wedges: here at Target (comfiest heels/wedges I've ever owned!). 

Surprise, surprise.....me wearing all Forever 21 clothing?? Yeah, it happens a lot. The weird thing is that if I buy things together there I tend to wear them together and that's the case with this skirt and top! All joking aside, I struggle with finding the perfect basic pieces (which should be the easiest things to find, right?) so I rejoiced (seriously, I did) when I found this adorable high-low black blouse! It's the perfect solid color top to wear with anything from colored pants to skinny jeans to printed skirts like this one!  

On a different note... I bought this hat probably 3 years ago but never wore it until now. I guess I've never felt confident wearing hats of any sort, but I wanted to spice up this outfit a little bit and finally went for it!

It seems like all shapes and sizes of straw hats are pretty trendy right now, are you nervous to wear the trend or going for it this summer??

I just wanted to share some snapshots with you from life lately!

olive & cream. 6.22.2012

 Crochet top: Forever 21 (borrowed from Jo). Cream skirt: BCBGeneration (outlet store find!). Floral tie wedges: DV Dolce Vita from Asos (no longer available). Vintage watch, gifted bracelet and sparkly gold ring. Nail polish: "Minted" by Revlon. 


I drew inspiration for this outfit from all of the pretty crochet pieces and cute little skirts I've been seeing for this season! I've been "pinning" lots of these types of pieces onto my spring + summer trendiness pinboard and especially love this and this. 


Also, how amazing are these photos by Jo Photography?? I've written about this before, but Jo is the one who encouraged me to start my blog and has taken the majority of my photos plus done my banner and such! She's a wonderful friend and also so so talented!

tuesday twist: purple maxi dress {part 3}. 6.19.2012

This week for Tuesday Twist I've styled my maxi dress with a long, light cardigan and added wedges to dress up the look a little. I usually wear this dress more casually (as you've probably noticed in the two previous posts), so this is a nice change!

what I wore: floral + high-waisted shorts. 6.15.2012

Shorts: Forever 21 (I bought these last year, but here is a somewhat similar pair). Strapless top: Lilu from PacSun (no longer available).  Brown purse: vintage. Wedges: Steve Madden (no longer available). Watch: Fossil (similar here). Rings: vintage & gifted.

My friend and roommate Ashley snapped these photos before we went out to dinner and watched the NBA Finals last night...and fortunately we took the photos before I ate a giant, delicious burger! I've realized I need to show some of my more casual outfits a little more often, and love adding some flair and personality to even my casual looks! 

I adore these little floral high-waisted shorts I bought last summer, and felt that a strapless top kind of added to the slightly vintage feel of the shorts. I topped off the outfit with wedges (my current obsession) and Ashley's adorable vintage bag! Super easy and comfy, but way cuter than the basic denim shorts and a t-shirt!

tuesday twist: purple maxi dress {part 2}. 6.12.2012

This week for Tuesday Twist I've layered a soft knit sweater over my purple maxi dress to achieve a more relaxed & subdued look. Notice how much the sweater tones down the bright purple? This will be a perfect way to carry over this dress & my other maxi dresses into the fall!
